Yeah, I saw those, but they're all for short hair. It looks shoulder-length when tightly curled like it is in those pics I posted, but my hair actually reaches about halfway down my back when it's not rolled. I can't figure out what to do with the ends.
I like this one a lot. I wonder how to do this...
Of course, if it comes down to it, I can do this with a curling iron and just a couple of dangly hot rollers.

I do too! Any idea how to do it?
No idea how to do it, but walmart and target sell those pink foam rollers, in all different sizes. Pretty cheap, a buck something for a pack.
I believe you Dottie and you have my support
Cool! There's a Target near me. I'll check it out.
Does anybody know what that brunette hairstyle above is called? I'd like to look up instructions on how to do it, but I've no idea what it's called or what search terms to use. The more I think about it, the more I really want to do that one.
A-HA! I found that explains how to get those rolls. Evidently you need a round thing called a "rat," which you roll your hair around and then pin it in place. THAT's how they got those funky shaped sausage rolls!
Now I just need to find out where I can get some rats...

you can't buy them, i have looked for years, nylon Tulle from the fabric store works really well. The origional rats were the hair left from your brush rolled into that sausage shape, but that is gross and takes a long time to aquire, i just get tulle in a color that comes close to the color of my hair and sew it into a sausage

LOL... I did some further hunting and found that they are called Victory Rolls, and they can also be accomplished with a curling iron and bobby pins. I'm going to practice tonight. I might actually put my hair up in pincurls tonight, sleep on them, and then do the Victory Rolls tomorrow... depends on my mood.
The glasses are hot.ETA: And should I leave my glasses on or take them off?
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

Cool, so some with glasses and some without. Copy that.![]()

Well, I do have a very good friend who does hair and makeup, but I'm calling in a huge favor to get her to do my short. I did some research and I think I've got it figured out. I'm going to practice it tomorrow.

This book might help. Perhaps you can find it at your local library:

I have that outfit, it's not so great in person :-/ I think it looks so good because that model is so hot. For a pin up look, maybe look outside of the realm of stripper clothes into "real life" lingerie. Any pics you want to emulate?
I looked around and figured I like Betty Grable's look best.
Her best hair look is large pincurls with victory rolls around her face. So tonight I'm trying it out... I'm sleeping in pincurls!I've never done this before and I hope I don't wake up in the morning with a big mess on my head and a bed full of hair pins. I look so silly right now! Lord, my face looks awful in this pic...

OMG it is looking awesome so far.....
If you want "authentic 40's pin-up" do not wear your glasses.....too modern looking....otherwise do what makes you feel amazing.......
Damn the anticipation is MUUUUURRRRRDDDDDEEEEERRR"![]()
Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved."

Hey, thanks! But I don't think I'll need a rat, actually. My hair's pretty thick. I think if I just roll it and pin it with bobby pins, I'll be fine without a rat. Hairdressers are always bitching about how thick my hair is... my mama's half Cherokee, they should see hers!

So what look did you decide to have?
I also noticed that the makeup for that look requires very dramatic eyebrows. Like Sophia Lauren. What are you doing for the eyebrows?
They were late shipping my outfit, so I had to postpone the shoot. I haven't done it yet.
My eyebrows kinda look like that anyway. I just have to pencil them, and I might go over them with a bit of eyeshadow as well for the shoot.

oh that sucks.
