Default Is this a good or bad diet?

Trying to make my own diet here so here goes; tell me what you think:

    Breakfast

Eggs, spinach, a bit of cheddar cheese, and garlic
    or
1 cup cherrios with 3/4 cup of 1% milk
grande non-fat sugar free vanilla latte

    Snack:
Protein shake (frozen strawberries, black berries, splash of cherry juice, plain non-fat yogurt, protein power scoop, splash of milk, ice cubes)
    water

    Lunch
    :
Cup of soup (eh I have school so this is my middle of the day meal)
    or
Salad with fat free dressing or olive oil drizzle with tomatoes.

    Snack:

    Apple or banana with granola

    Dinner:
    Grilled chicken with something green

    Late snack:
    (I stay up late)
Low carb hot chocolate and water

Pretty much water with every meal except breakfast. Like a 1.5 liters at most per day.

Do I need more calories? Is there anything I should add or take away?

Sounds fairly healthy to me, except that you might not find the lunch meal filling or sustaining enough. If you're still peckish after your soup or salad, you might like to try eating something like a small can of tuna or some crackers with hummus.

Also, it sounds a bit low on carbs. You don't need heaps of carbs, but you might find you miss them so I'd advise treating yourself to some occasionally if you start to feel too hemmed in.

Still, all in all it sounds pretty good (assuming your goal is to lose weight. If it's not, there are too few calories). Only if you find it's not working for you 100% (cravings, hunger, unwanted weight change, weakness) do you need to tweak it.

Well, if you're taking a multi vitamin it seems healthy. Good stuff that you've got it spread out through the day. Someone told me that if you dip below 1,400 calories per day, your body goes into starvation mode... But I don't know if that's true? I thought it was if you don't eat every three hours, your body goes into starvation mode. Someone clarify.

TM, are you trying to lose weight? You're a hard-body, crazy girl!

i thought under 900 was starvation for a small to medium framed woman.

but that looks healthy for me. but don't be afraid to eat more if you're still healthy. let your body be your guide.

What are your goals? Are you trying to loose weight? gain muscle? maintain? I think your diet looks great but it depends on what you want to achieve. I would personally stay away from cup of soup because it's filled with preservatives and msg. Stick with the salad...try adding more veggies and protein to make it more filling and nutritious.

Good for you with the water...I personally can't seem to drink enough when it's cold outside.

I work at a gym, and that Diet looks pretty good, maybe a little low on carbs as said above. The trainer that owns the gym uses this program for most of his clients . It seems to work well, offers plenty of food, and allows for fat burnung with muscle retention and or gain. The problem with alot of diets is that the body will burn muscle as well as fat if not properly fed. What ends up happening is although you lose weight on the scale, because of the muscle burned your Body Fat percentage goes up.

Thanks for the input everyone. Yea I'm trying to loose some more weight. I haven't weighed myself because the scale is evil. But I can tell how I fit in my jeans and I have about 7-6 pounds left to loose. I know if I push with a better diet it'll come off easily.
I see where you guys say I need about the food tweaking. Probably add more vegetables. Thanks!

    From where?!?!

Anyway, it's a good blend, though you might have to have a larger portion of protein for dinner than you're thinking, so you can keep muscle mass in good shape. Other than that, it's a good regimen.

I'm wondering how it's going too. I love the protein shake you described ....I like the splash of cherry juice. I've never added that to mine, but the next time I buy everything to start making healthy smoothies and shakes, I'll add that to my list. Do you add fiber to any of yours? I LOVE benefiber and try to add it to everything possible.

What protein powder do you use? I've been using Solaray Soytein in Vanilla Flavor, but it doesn't go well with other flavors (fruit flavors and things like that obviously). Is there a good one that is not flavored?

Things are going along nicely. I got back on diet pills which helps alot but trying to stick to the same thing every day kinda diet. I also have some extra protein (3-6oz of chicken) in the evenings. I always know what Im going to eat and theres no deviations from it either. I have to buy a new bikini b/c the old one kinda sags in the front.

I use this protein powder I found at Henry's from the bins. Its unflavored and doesn't take gross when you mix it well. Just mix really well. This year is the death of my muffin top.

...oh and I just wanna brag that now I can do a 300lbs leg press. Its something to be proud of.
