I was at a club on a slow night, and it was getting pretty late, maybe an hour or so before closing.
There weren't a lot of us left in the club, and a dancer who had introduced herself earlier, but I hadn't spoken to all evening, came to my table and flopped down in the chair next to me.
She started telling me how freaked out she was, that she was giving a dance to a guy who wanted more than she wanted to give, but wouldn't take no for an answer, and how scared she got. She did have the bouncer throw the customer out. This went on for a while, I asked if she wanted something to drink (soft, this club doesn't serve alchohol), but she declined.
Here's the thing. I wanted to be polite and sensitive, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking "is this some new kind of hustle?".
She never put on the "hard sell", but I still have to wonder:
Is this some kind of "non-hustle"?
I would expect that dancers in a club would tend to talk to each other about things like this, or are the girls in a club competitive enough that they can't typically get support from each other?
