    WWW The Internet

It's my job to troll the internet all day looking for weird shit. So I've seen a few wacky things this past month, but I'd have to say this tops them all. I don't know whether to laugh or not!

What do you think is up with this!

    Is it a bad joke?

Or an attempt to piss people off?

No way it's for real, and it's not even that funny that it could be a Chappelle routine!

    BTW: Check out the pricing

Well I seen something like this on tv. Where There was this black person. Who went into a all white town. Put up a meet a black person booth. He was talking about how a lot white americans. Have never meet a black person. They only view them as a race for what they see on tv.

But that site I have to say I am offended by it!

Much like Landover Baptist Church, Rent-A-Negro is nothing but twisted satire. The "additional services" on the pricing page should make that obvious.

And in case you were wondering, the woman who started it IS herself black.

I don't know if I have a stick up my ass today or what, but I don't really think that either of those are very funny. I donno... I don't really like to make fun of other people's beliefs, to the Landmark Church, and while I am hardly a fan of the born again Christian mentality.....I guess if that's what someone believes, then cool. I'm actually Catholic and I know a lot of people don't like my shit either. (Although I'm not crazy and do believe in birth control and abortion and divorce and shit, lol) And as for the Rent-A thing, I kind of think it's insulting to black people and white people.

For as much time as the people who made these sites put in, I think their time would have been better spent making more positive sites.

Your not a nerd. Yes it is vey insulting, to blacks. We already are being insulted by our goverment. We dont need each other doing it to ourselves. There is law that allow black people to vote. But if congress feel by 2007. Blacks should not have the right to vote. They will take away the right for blacks to vote. If congress do decide blacks will have the right to vote permently. Congress just extended the law for another year.

I think it's kind of her point, y'all. She's well-educated and sick of being singled out as black all the time. I think she's saying that if she's going to have to represent "The Black Community" all the time around dumbass white people, she ought to be paid for it. The questions and touching her hair and skin make that point clear. It's definitely satire.

    I think it's clever.

I had to send that link to some relatives and friends. My aunt's reply to this? "Damn, I could make a lot of money that way!" Me personally? I snickered at it. I think the lady who came up with the idea is awesome for having such a wild sense of humor.

She is and you've got to give her credit for profiting from this satire!

But I still think Dave Chappelle is a much better humorist/satirist and this gal is just cashing in (more power to her)!

423texas, I seriously doubt she's actually making a living this way, or even a profit. I'd imagine that the sale of the "tokens" make up for the expenses of maintaining the site. I highly doubt anyone actually wants to "Rent A Negro," especially since she is very clear that absolutely no sexual advances will be tolerated.

Default Duh, I know she's not really trying to "Rent Negros!"

I was born at night, but last night. I didn't mean to infer that she's trying to make money by actually renting Negros. That's the satire!

    But she's definitely selling books:

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/1556525737?...VB7BH5KDRD85J&

I hope she does make money on the book if that 's what's selling these days!

I still think Dave Chappelle's satire is better.

I admit that I laughed but maybe not because I thought it was funny. It made me a little uncomfortable reading it, partially because a lot of it is true and because I have seen my fair share of white people behave that way....nervous giggle I suppose.

I didn't see it as offensive. I thought it was funny. It wasn't saying anything negative about black people, and what it was suggesting about white people wasn't really offensive considering that alot of white people really do act that way. I sent it to my step-father, and he laughed at it and said he didn't realize how much money he could have been making, jokingly.

She's a Portland artist, so I heard of this when she did it a few years back. Portland is pretty white, and pretty segregated, so she's responding to that.

Personally, something about it kinda rubs me the wrong way, but I can appreciate the gesture.

so does she charge your friends for calling her "sista" or does that go to your bill?

really now, i don't think it is a good idea, a mild joke at best, and hard for me to swallow. if she can laugh at it, why not but i don't believe it. she is only hurting her self and her own race. a person who needs to rent a black person for social status rather than just making a friend IS racist in my opinion.

    ROFLMAO!!!

Shit, I spit coffee all over my computer after I saw this site. I still can't stop laughing. I sent it to my family and honestly, everyone laughed at first then checked to see if it was authentic JUST to make sure it was truly satire.

Once it was confirmed satire, we were in tears from laughter. Nothing was offensive to me on that site, and I'm Southeast D.C born and bred, matter of fact it was actually cleansing to see the most obvious stereotypes of my culture exagerrated. Laugh white people... laugh laugh laugh *chanting* . That shit was funny as fuck! Sure, theres a thin line between humor and ignorance, but nothing on their is offensive. It was funnier before I realized it was a sistuh who designed the site..... it took some of the zing out of it.

I guess it's safe too say that in my community sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.... but when I read this shit I did both.
