    Default Anxiety attacks

so i went to the dr. today and he told me i had an anxiety attack. he checked my heart and everything was fine. i'm getting my thyroid tested saturday too.

anyway, how bad do anxiety attacks get for anyone who gets them? i hope it doesn't get to the point where i have to take any meds for it.

i had one today and my chest still feels tight.

I've had some pretty bad ones where I KNEW I was going to die.

I've survived them all so far, though. Only tried drugging them once, and the drugs were worse than the panic attacks. I really have to watch it now that I have asthma, because if I freak out too much I can give myself an asthma attack and those ARE deadly. But I've found that the best way to deal with an impending panic attack is just to breathe deeply, try to relax, and remember that it's just another stupid panic attack and if I ignore it, then it'll go away like every other panic attack before it. Then I go find a distraction and sure enough, it falls away.

It used to be. Hasn't bugged me for years though.

I have found that I need to avoid marijuana. My first panic attack was brought on by marijuana, and the older I get, the more the two are connected. I'm not much of a stoner anyway but the few times I've tried pot over the past couple of years, I'd say I get panic attacks about 75% of the time.

My dad suffers badly with them, but it happens mostly at night time.

He wakes up about 5 times during the night either talking dead loud while he is still half asleep, or screaming (Its not night terrors), and he hardly gets any sleep from it. Everytimg I hear him I was want to cry because its a horrible thing to go through, I feel for you Vyanka My dad had just gone really bad and he now takes tablets for them twice a day, It is a horrible thing to have. I feel sorry for my mum as well she has to sleep with him!!

I suffer mostly from panic attacks which can get quite frightening when no one is around.

But you take good care of yourself and you as well Yek

once i had one in the middle of class. i didnt know what to do because my foot went numb and i thought i was going to pass out, so i went and sat in the hall for a loooong time. its scary because school triggers them for me. i dont take any medicine because i refuse to, but my doctor wanted me to. for me, i just had to find a way to deal with it myself. i can feel them coming on and i have what i call mini panic attacks now, because i can, in a way, handle them. still an icky feeling, but not as bad.

    Thanks Vampira

I honestly think it's my freaking period now. lol. I just got it, and I got it 6 days earlier. And when I PMS, I get that fast rushing heart beat. But this time it was a bit stronger. So maybe it isn't an AA. My chicken shit ass freaks over anything. Better to be safe, than sorry.

i get them all the time. sometimes i get them at work over really stupid things like being five minutes late and feeling like i am rushed or letting someone down. i've had to go home because of them. if i have a really bad dream i'll get one later in the day and lock myself in a quiet place for a while.

the best way to get over one is find someone you trust that makes you feel good like a funny friend, family member or beau that always puts you in a better mood, then do something that you want to do that you think is fun or relaxing. if that won't do it maybe you just need to be alone.

i've only had to medicate once and that was a week long anxiety attack that started at work over some douche smoking all my cigarettes and then i fell into one on stage. i left work early and then a series of stressful events took place and bad dreams kept it going.

see if there is a pattern in what can cause your anxiety and take the daily steps to prevent it. if i work a saturday there is a good chance i will have one sunday (don't know why) so i avoid those stress nights, i also make sure i have EVERY single thing i could possibly need so i have no stress of runing out of anything and i avoid other co worker's stress. i also have long relaxing talks with my beau before i sleep to try and prevent nightmares. getting to work early helps too.

you should only be on medicine if they are frequent and last for days. just look for the things that stress you out and do your best to eliminate them. if you want to talk to someone about it i'm the expert and pointless panic and will be happy to help.
