Before: carbs, something light. Your body needs the glucose. Then something small afterward, like a glass of milk.
honestly it really depends. cardio-best time is in the morning before you eat, or after a weightlifting session (b.c your glycogen storage will be burned and then you will be burning more fat) after a weight lifting session you should be eating a snack with combo of carb and protein for optimal muscle building
