    Default Sleep Study?

Okay so my man went to do a sleep study this morning... his apt was for 7am(he works nights so they figured it would be best to do it in the morning).

Im hoping they can fix his snoring problems since we havnt slept in the same bed in months... I dunno...

What exactly are they doing to him? Anyone ever done one of these before? How long does it usually take? Its 3pm and hes still not home

Yes. Did one. They are probably checking for sleep apnea. He snores, huh? Basically they wire you up to blood pressure, heart and breathing monitors and check your vitals.

By the way, I had boarderline apnea and so, when I needed my infected and swollen tonsils out at the ripe age of 40 (this was part of the whole business), we elected to remove a lot of other throat flesh, too, including my uvula.

He will be fine. Don't worry. It's not invasive. Just diagnostic. You have more to fear from some cute nurse than the sleep study itself.

When my father went for his sleep study, it took almost 10hrs. He got there at 10pm, once they hooked up the various things that they needed to it was close to 11pm. They let him sleep him normal sleep pattern which in his case was close to 8hrs. The monitered his breathing, his eye movement, and a host of other perameters. In the end the diagnosed him with Sleep apnia (sp?) Hang in there Cally I am sure he will be home soon, and hopefully with a better idea of why he snores, and what can be done to alleviate the problem.

Sleep apnea is very damaging to the health. Left untreated, it eventually results in heart disease. It's good he is getting help for his problem now, while he is still young and healthy.
