Default little things that make a big difference

I'm realizing lately that I can set myself up for a better, more productive night just by making small changes. Example: I usually listen to mellow indie-type music on the drive to work (Elliott Smith, The Decemberists, Bright Eyes, Nikitin, stuff like that.) Last night I decided to try listening to something more upbeat (Latin dance music), and it made a BIG difference in my energy when i got out on the floor! Being lulled into a mellow, relaxed state is nice, but not when I'm on a mission to make as much money as possible and take no prisoners!

Also, I find that if I'm mulling over a problem situation or have something heavy on my mind, taking a few minutes to journal before going to work is a godsend. Brainstorming and putting it into a well-organized piece of black-and-white helps to get it off my mind so I can concentrate on hustling. Otherwise I'm going to be somewhat distracted and not on top of my game.

What are *your* small tweaks that can really help your work night?

Every time I do something different with my make up or my clothes I make money. Sometimes what I do is so innocent and insignificant, like, getting a pedicure instead of doing it myself. It is so dark in there that no one can actually see my feet well, but it makes me feel pretty so I'm a lot more confident.

Hmmmm...... maybe i'll start switching it up slightly every night. that is a good suggestion with the music though. I'm totally gonna try that on the way to work next time.

I think that there's a really good thread in body business with this exact title! However I will say that music helps SO MUCH. I love listening to the hard and kicky dance music I was exposed to when I first started dancing at tiny clubs (m.i.a., lcd soundsystem, etc)... it's never played at my current club so it reminds me of the pure fun and sexiness of dancing without being overplayed in my head.

The music for sure! On the drive in I roll the window down a bit, turn the music up and get myself into a party mood....Before I leave the house (oh this is so silly!) I turn the lights out in my room (I'm laughing at myself right now) and turn on my black light, turn on music and try on all my favorite outfits....I decide which one I am in the mood for that night and then do my hair and make-up to go with it, or my mood. Hehehehe.....

My hubby has walked in on my little parade many times, he thinks I'm goofy!

Hehe I started doing the same thing..I'm a total jazz nut but I started listening to really loud punk and psychobilly llike Gogol Bordello or The Nekromantix and it puts me in confident kick ass mood.

And you're right about the hair and makeup...even one new thing like a hairstyle, diff eyelashes or shoes and for some reason I feel like the hottest bitch in the room. Haha these confidence boosters are getting expensive.

Sometimes before work I will close my eyes and visualize myself with a perfect body and attitude, visualize every guy being taken with me...I do this for a few minutes and if i get down at work i close my eyes and revisit the image. I guess when you focus really hard on projecting what you want to be others pick up on it and you become just that thing.

Oddly enough, reading the "You know you're a stripper when . . ." thread totally puts me in a good mood and psychs me up for work. Nonsensical I know, but, hey, whatever makes me money.
