    Default Recurring Dream...

Since I was 2 or 3 ish, I've had this dream/nightmare....kinda thing...a couple times a week. The lady in it isn't anybody I've ever seen in my life and it's really creepy. Does that happen to anyone else, or does it seem sort of not normal?

EVERY week since you were 2 or 3?! That does seem a little... different. But I'm no expert on dreams. What happens in the dream?

Um, there's a couple of variations of it. When I was little I named it "The lady with the line" dream. Basically I willl either be riding in a car in the dark and this woman's face appears next to my window. Sometimes I'll be walking down stairs and she'll appear next to the stair rail but on the other side. Sometimes I'll be walking down the road at night and feel like someone's watching me and I'll catch a glimpse of her walkin a little ways away from me, It's not a woman I"ve ever seen besides in the dream. She's uber uber pale, like white, and extremely pretty but frightening looking. And she has a line of blood trickling down her forehead. Hence the name..

Yes I've always had this dream that I was climbing a tower of some sort and I would keep climbing until finally it would collapse and I'd fall. However I'd wake up before I hit the ground every time. Then coincedently on september 11th I had that dream again before the attack and was supposed to ride out to manhattan to cut school with my friends but didnt even make it to the train station before the plane hit.

The only reason why I remember having that dream is because of the attack. I've had it come and go for years but never thought anything of it until that happened. I still have it a couple times a year til this day.

Wow, creepy. Maybe you have seen her though, like when you were really little or something. You could've witnessed something that frightened you and it just stuck somewhere in your subconcious.

When I was about 5 or 6 I was in the car with my mom and it was snowing outside. We saw a car that had just crashed into a telephone pole and my mom stopped to help. When she rolled down our window to ask the woman if she was ok I remember seeing blood running down from her mouth were she had hit the steering wheel. I had never seen a car crash before and the look on that woman's face scared me so bad I had nightmares for a long time. That image is burned into my mind to this day. But maybe because I was a few years older when it happened and can remember the entire event it hasn't continued to haunt me. But if you were only 2 or 3 you might not remember the whole story behind the face, and so it stuck with you.
    Just one theory.

i'd agree. it's my understanding that dreams are often made up of our subconscious, of occurrences and events that we have experienced IRL but have not processed for whatever reason or another. however the interpretation of dreams is open .. for interpretation itself.. meaning that nothing can be set with dreams, but in my psychological studies i have learned a thing or two about processing what happens in life and often unprocessed things manifest in other ways, recurring dreams being one of those manifestations. make sense at all pooka?

    Love it!

I have recurring "extras" in my dreams. No one I know. There are also generic places such as grocery stores or post offices that I haven't ever seen per se, but whenever they are needed, the action tends to happen in the same generic place with the same generic people.
I blame it on TV. It's oddly comforting for me, though, not frightening.

another theory i'll throw out there comes from my love of folklore. since mankind could write there have been stories of what is now called "the old hag", the dreams do vary but they all have a theme similar to what you describe, and old woman within the dream...sometimes she even attacks people. it happens all over the world, the earliest recordings of her i belive were nordic. i've had an exiprence with it myself when iwas a teen....she was standing in my bedroom door, hiding between the door & the wall just staring at me.

when I was about 2... near the same age, I had a recurring dream that my mother was falling from a cliff and I was flying down on a winged horse to try to save her but neither of us ever reached the bottom. They took me to a therapist because I would wake up in tears every night, turns up, my mother was getting treatment/tests for a potentially deadly disease that she wasn't informing the family of (they now know she has lupus), and somehow I sensed this in her, as the dreams began when she began visiting the doctor for it. weird huh?

Maybe you are a sensitive and someone's energy is trying to contact you but you are only receptive enough in dreams.

Alright... I know quoting yourself is lame... but I thought of more,

I had this friend who trained with me in one of the abandoned asylums a couple times for the volunteer ORG I am a member of, and she tended to be a sensitive. She could "hear" them in a way that I can only when I close my eyes and sit still in the dark, and when she did this she could make out much more than I.

Anywho, after her first "conversation" with a kind spirit whom we all knew by the sound of dragging heels and a familiar smiling feeling upon entering one of the rooms in his territory, she knew not much more than an impression of his name, the sound of his voice... and the fact he was very sad, but was a good person. Later that night when she went to sleep (she was my roomate), she awoke with frantic tears, and recanted a vivid dream of his hospitalization experiences, some details of treatment were verified as things she could not have known without intense research on the methods of treatment for that day and time.

My beliefs, and hers as well, are that the mind cannot process the information the way his energy tried to send it with our waking, logical minds, so therefore it was left to be interpreted later with her subconscious mind and dreams.

Could this woman have attempted to show herself to you in your waking life but your mind blocks her for she is not "actually there" in a sensory way of speaking?

I havent had it in years, but when I was younger my recurring dream was about this princess, who lived in a tower, across a drawbridge. Every time I went to visit the princess, the drawbridge would be up, and I couldnt get across the moat to see her. That was the same dream I had for a long time.

Finally in the last dream I had of the princess...The drawbridge was down!! I coudl finally get across the moat to visit the princess. And when I got into the tower, she was peeing. And I waited and waited, and she just wouldnt stop peeing, and she never came out of the bathroom and I never met the princess. I never had the dream again after that.

    ^That one made me giggle.

I have had a dream over and over, about, I dunno, once a month maybe? And it's the same but different, like Pooka's. But at some point in the dream, someone looses a finger. And it's VERY detailed! Gross! Up close! I had this dream for as long as I can remember...and I found out in high school that when I was very very young I had seen a guy lose his finger when my family was camping. So apparently, that visual stuck with me, and my brain just applied to a bunch of different things....and as i grew older the context changed a bit, but stayed the same image.

So possibly PookaShell, you saw something a very long time ago, and not realizing what you saw, but knowing it was traumatic, your brain just filed it away...and every now and then it pops out. I hope that's it, because honestly, the other stuff is a bit scary to me!

Pooka, can you ask your mom or some other adult who took care of you at that age? They might remember something that happened to you or a story that frightened you or even something that might have been on the news.

I've had reoccurring people in dreams that I know that I don't know in waking. As for yours? And what you've told me? I might have to take a trip to Cassadaga and see if anyone can enlighten me on it.
