Default who will proscribe my meds?

i have no time in my agenda to visit my theripist anymore. because of that i can no longer have the doctor there (at the office) proscribe my anti anxiety medication.

its is completely impossible for me not to take meds. the depression and anxiety leaves me unable to care for my 2 year old.

how can i find someone to continue my perscription? i just switches my primary care. i was going to this nasty clinic but i finally got my ass over to my sons family care practice.

should i call my new doctors office and explain the situation to the receptionist or should i ask to speak with the on call nurse?

You could try a GP. Don't talk to the receptionist about it, she can't prescribe you anything. You need to see a doctor.

NO I know that but can she just set the appointment up for me or does a nurse or someone need to decide I can have a med appointment

Ask the other place to send your records to the new doctor. Primary care should be able to prescribe anything that is not a controlled substance.

Speak to someone at your university health clinic.

Like Krchab99 said above, you should definitely make time, as far as I know a psychiatrist/therapist is the only person that can prescribe you meds that fit your exact needs.

I've had a family practice doctor prescibe my meds before. If you already know what meds work and in what doses, it shouldn't be a problem to get a prescription from a regular doctor. I would make an appointment with the doctor, and not worry about asking the receptionist or nurse. You're in college, right? Most colleges (even my cheap community college) have free counseling, perhaps you could look into this along with getting meds from your family practice doc.

Having both Bi Polar Disorder and Inattentive Type ADHD myself, medication is only part of the equation in dealing with your anxiety, and you really need to make the time to stay with your therapist. Or, if time is an issue, couldn't you look into another therapist? One that could do early morning appointments? Evening appointments?
Unfortunately with some meds, you can't get them from a normal physician. The psychiatrist is there to monitor your progress, as well as monitor your medications.
I'm really not trying to sound like a walking pamphlet for Depression, but just trying to give you advice since I'm right there with you! Meds are great, but they're to help with your symptoms, not cure them. Therapy is a tremendous help too!
