Default What I've learned about hustling--testing things out

Over the past month or so, as I have been working at a new club, my earnings per hour have increased dramatically (about 20-25% more). I have changed my hustle a lot: did the DW course, cut down my drinking, wear gowns or moderate length dresses even on Monday afternoons, take a lot more care of my hair make up etc. In general, I feel a lot more in control of my work life, and even when it is dead or I am tired I can still squeeze out money at work.

The most important points I have learned, in case you're interested, are

    1) that I am in control of the communcation, the conversation never wanders too far from my goal of selling and I never "ask" for anything. It is always suggestive selling. No more variations of "do you WANT xyz" now it is a variation of "lets go for xyz now".

    2) there are only so many people you can speak to, and while it is important to choose carefully based on appearance/dress, if you make a decision to speak to someone...commit to pushing your hustle on them, they notice that you are distracted.

    3) never ask for a second dance, tell them to keep going "Let's keep going, one is never enough." I rarely do single dances these days.

    4) the more you push the vip, the more you will sell it.

    5) you have to spend money on yourself in order to make more money.

    6) you CAN be the top earner on any given night. As long as there are custies in the room, you can make money.

So tonight I am going to my old club to test myself and see if my improved hustle helps. I am a little nervous that I am going to revert to my bad hustler ways once I get in there, but the new stuff is so automatic now, I don't have to think so hard to make things work.

Sounds like you're only going to continue making more! Those are all great tips.

I wrote up my experience in another post about "you should be in sales..."

Overall, I cannot express how pleased I am with how much I have improved at work. I went to my old club and did well on a slow Sunday night...now the real work begins...I have to sit down with some books on sales and improve my pole work onstage.

I'd totally recommend the psychology of selling by brian tracy as a good book to read because he really pushes the mindset that you should be a great seller, the top in your field, so that you can pursue your very important dreams and goals... not just sell sell sell, but to sell toward something great for yourself.

Does wearing long gowns or moderately lengthed dresses help sales?? I always assumed that the more skin you showed the better. Am I on the wrong path?

you summed it up sunnie! thats all it is!

OH! and read that book that was recommended in another thread. "superflirt" by tracy cox.

sales skills mixed with the right body language is fucking killer! my whole week kicked ass (well except last night, but i came mad late to work)

good stuff and its fun to read. highly recomend it.
