Strippers don't get paid a salary. Some clubs will offer a small base pay or others will pay for housing or transportation (like in Guam), but the last time I remember clubs paying dancers was back in the late 80's or early 90's.

If you are asking how much we make in a year, that could be anywhere from $0 to who knows how much. Personally, that is between me and the IRS.

Nah, it doesn't bother me none, I'm honest about what I make it's no big secret. Some girls make less, some more, who cares? I'd LOVE to make more, but I'm content where I'm at for now.

It's all relative. Because there's no standard work week, beinig happy with $10K this year could really be the same as making $60K but working full time.

I voted. I won't get into specifics as that is not really needed yet I voted.

Just remember it is better for strippers to earn under $50,000 here in Australia than to earn over it due to GST. If we earn $50,000 before tax (before any deductions) then we have to pay GST (do a BAS - Business Activity Statement which includes how much GST we have to pay on top of the tax we are already paying) so it worth-while for dancers to earn $49,999 here in AUD (naturally).

It is earnings not a salary.

although a lot of income has to do with personal skill, it's also largely related to location. i could make A LOT more money with the same hustle in a different city/state.

Oh how true the above is! I know I would be making A LOT more if I lived in Melbourne or even possibly Darwin .... Gold Coast isn't that great strip club wise "everyday". Not anymore.. too much competition in such a small section of the whole "city" as such and not enough (IMO) people/patrons/what-have-you to support all four reasonably well.

I only work once or twice a week. My husband pays the rent, and I pay the smaller bills. I also buy groceries, baby stuff, etc. I'm in school and I don't see how or why I would want to work more than twice a week even if I wasn't. Maybe when the smoking laws pass (if they do) But I leave the club wheezing from all the smoke, I just couldn't do it more than twice a week.

I honest think that very few girls actually know how much money they are making in a year. I think Most of the girls just use a rough estimate, which is probably WAY off.
I personally keep track of how much money I make on a calender. Ever night I write it down, add it up at the end of the month and year. I started doing this several years ago. I used to think I made a lot more money than I do. It was shocking how little I made, 31-40. I used to think I made like 80+. In 2006 I thought I was having a REALLY bad year. I dont add up my yearly progress at all throughout the year because I do not want it to be discouraging. So when I addid it up in January, I was SHOCKED to learn that I have been making pretty much the same as I did ever other year.

^^ I wonder if what you say holds true in general, because from the looks of things most strippers are making over 100,000 which is a little hard to believe for any sales position.

I think a very small percentage actually make that much. Some do, but strippers aren't known for their honesty.

I don't like to talk money like this because I find it tacky, but I did vote in the poll. I will say that I am very happy with the money I make as a dancer and that it is just about double what I was making working in publishing. I keep track on a spreadsheet so I know exactly how much I have made every night.

Probably most people in New York City, Los Angeles, or Chicago at the "upper class" clubs. If you work every day of the week though, 100k a year is pretty easily attainable. But then again you'd be working just as much as any "normal" job.

at the moment, just under 20% of the girls that answered the poll reported gross earnings of $100k+ . That roughly translates into a full time dancer earning $400 a night, which is well within the realm of possibility in any decent club.

Since you asked, I voted for the $100,000+ option. I work all the damn time though, so I work my ass off to make it to that point.

Gross vs. net could be very, very different. For instance, if a dancer claims what she took in but didn't subtract tip outs, house fees, cab fare, costumes, shoes, and any other dancing related expenses, $100,000 a year is easily doable. But then you realized that it cost $60,000 to earn the $100,000 is a little bit more realistic.

^^^ yes the fact that average dancing hours per week was left out of the survey makes the results rather difficult to digest. Also, many of us have additional sources of income that aren't directly related to dancing, which further skews the survey results re total income versus dancing income.

However, there is one point that can unequivocably be drawn from the survey results. At least 75% of dancers are in a financial 'tier' where they need to be smart about income taxes !

I just thought I would point that out. I am not saying girls do not make as much as they say. What I am saying is that I think a lot of girls dont know how much they acutally make and estimating can be WAY off as we all know. Also, the number of nights we work may be way off, as we usually work 3-4 nights, but we dont always realize just how many weeks we did not come in all the nights we usually do. That may bring your average down a night or two which can seriously affect your earnings. Think about it. If we figure I make 500 EVERY night I work, this is just for argument sake, I dont make that much, and I usually work 4 nights a week, I am making, $104,000, But If I just take off ONE night a week, down to 3 nights, I drop all the way down to $78,000. You can see how big of a difference just one night a week can make. So, I dont want to sound like most dont make very much, just that I really think, unless you keep an exact count ever night, you really dont know. And an estimate is not going to be very close to accurate as we can all see.
I know exactly how much I bring home every night, how much I tipped, and when I bought outfits, most girls, or anyone for that matter, do not keep track of all that like I do. I do it just so that when I FEEL like I am not making money, I can look back and see that I really am, sometimes more than my average, which really helps my confidence and in turn helps me make even more.
