    Default Unattended drinks. Say something?

Last night I had a lovely, lovely time at my fav SC, which I showed off to a friend of mine here who'd never been. He was delighted. We had a brilliant, fun time.

But something troubled me. A number of the dancers--seasoned performers, not youngsters--we bought drinks for last night left their cocktails with us as they went to do a stage set. They then returned and started drinking again.

Should I mention to a dancer who does this that it's an unsafe job-site practice? Will this warning come off as patronizing or, worse, creepy ("Why is he thinking about spiking drinks!")?

    What do you think?

I would assume that she knows what she is doing. Really the club is pretty safe for this as only the tooliest tools think that drugging a stripper is going to enable him to throw her over his shoulder and carry her out of the club. And I've never worked in a club where the staff (the other girls would interfere if management didn't) would allow a customer to molest a passed out girl in the club. Plus, most patrons who are tooly enough to try this are wildly cheap, so they try a half dose. I mean you know that at least 75% of the time "someone must have slipped something into my drink" is like code for "I got really hammered and I'm deeply shamed by my behaviour" right?

I'm paranoid as a customer, but at least I won't get raped until I make it home, talk about getting fucked.

The flaw in this is the tooliest of tools do not wear nametags that say "HI, Im a Real Tool". Unless you get to know someone fairly well, you have absolutely NO idea whether they are not a tool that would do that. Odds are great that they arent, and they would never slip anything into a dancers drink, but that 1 percent chance that they might be should still instill basic caution.

At my bar we recently had to ban a fairly regular customer - who was a decent tipper, and never really bothered anyone in the bar - because he was following women customers out to their cars. If you had asked me, I would have said I couldnt picture this guy doing it, because he generally seemed like an okay guy.

CE - I suppose in that situation I would say "Uh, do you always leave your drinks with customers you dont really know". Dont directly state anything dangerous could potentially happen, but sinply raise an inoculous question about the practice in general.

I think the club dosing phenomenon is hugely overreported. Not that it never happens, its just that every time I've seen it, in an SC or regular club, the girl crying had been downing 15 shots or something.........

I put this in the same category as telling a full grown adult that smoking is bad for them or that unprotected sex is dangerous with strangers. They already know the dangers, they are simply exercising their right to do whatever the heck they want. I wouldn't say anything.

I dunno PJ; think about all the things that have a 1% chance of happening; there is likely a greater than 1% chance of being hit by a car; I bet none of us limit crossing the street to crosswalks. Personally I find a lot of these cautionary tales are catering/provoking female paranoia more than dealing with any real danger; 1% danger is not a lot of danger. I'm in greater danger of all sorts of things - falling down the stairs for example (and you probably wouldn't tell me to avoid wearing heels).

I would say something to the dancer. Like PJ said.

I worked at an upscale club and one of the dancers had her drink spiked. She was a clean dancer and the only reason we knew right away was because she never drank (only water and fake drinks). Besides you only need something like this to happen one time. Why take chances?

They already know so telling them probably wouldn't make a difference. I don't think they'd be offended, though. You probably would have gotten, "aww, you're so sweet for worrying!".

Lots of people have the whole "it won't happen to me" mindset... until it actually happens to them.
This is sort of off topic, but... I was catching up with a guy I knew from a looong time ago and he was telling me what he'd been up to. He was telling me about a really bad breakup that he was going through and he was drinking too much. Once, he went to a bar with his friends and got so wasted that they were drinking everyone elses drinks. Just snatching them and downing them... He got roofied! Lmao! His friends helped him and all... but now he's all paranoid.

I would never drink another sip of a drink that I left unattended. I am just not trusting enough to do that.

I had a customer once who bought me a drink and then I went on stage and when I got back he seemed very keen for me to drink it, he kept reminding me it was still there - ah, alarm bells started to go off and I just made an excuse to leave and took the drink with me and threw it out.

I do know of girls who have gotton their drinks spiked with something and did have to go to the hospital, so it's not all girls crying over getting too drunk. Most of the clubs I've worked had, told me from the first day not to leave my drink unattended. I think most girls already know the dangers so telling them would be pointless. The one thing about it that bothers me, is when I order a drink and the waitress brings it over to me when I'm on stage. I got off stage once to find a drink that I ordered had arrived and the customer already drank half of it and then expected me to finish it since he bought it for me! ew.
