A long hot bath will open up the folicles some and may drain them. I would try some bath salts in the water to help draw out any puss. If it drains the bumps try some lotion until tomorrow and it may be healed enough to shave. This is caused when the folicles are irritated and close after shaving. Using antiperspirant after shaving can help prevent this. I also use AHA body lotion to avoid this, however if you are very sensitive this may not be a good idea.

It might be a staph infection. That happened to me. Its worse than just shaving irritation. It happens when staph bacteria (I think they're bacteria) get in their and mix with blood or something. (Sorry for the lame explaination!) I had to go to the dr. and get antibiotics. It went away shortly thereafter. Good luck!

You have my deepest sympathy :-)
I always wear more makeup on my legs than on my face :-(
Anyway, tea tree oil makes a huge difference. Try the afro-beauty stores: it is cheaper there...
If you find a mix of grape oil, carrot oil and tea tree oil, this is great as well, plus it does not stink.

Maybe after soaking like Jasmine said, smear neosporin on the area? And let us know how it goes.

I'm not sure I can give you a "quick fix solution", however..I'll tell you what works (ALWAYS) for me.
    First.
I always shave with a disposable razor, a good one, and I never use it twice. I dont even use the razors that come with disposable blades. I worry about bacteria in the shower from sitting, so I feel better (and notice that I have NEVER gotten any bumps/ingrown hairs/etc since) when I do so.

    Second.
Try Cortaid....I always apply a thin coat to my "bikinni area" afterwards. *the area where your body naturaly creases. ie..the panty area..where most ingrown hairs/bumps occur.

I really hope these tips help. Honestly, I live by them. I've told all of my girlfriends and its helped tremendously. you may not think about the shower being a place to harbor bacteria, but it really is.
    Best of luck sweets.

It's not just Dove that works for this. It's any white stick deodorant. An old school stripper gave me this tip about 8 years ago and it's worked like a charm.

As far as the OP--I think it's time for a visit to the doc if those bumps persist. Like someone else said, it sounds like it could be a staph infection. Trust me, you don't want to mess around with that! I had to have major surgery (had to be put completely under and hospitalized) to have 2 very large abcesses drained...it was from a staph infection. Not fun!

I've had staph infections... and you KNOW when you get those (at least from my experiances)! They are a deep, achy kind of painful and they don't have a head (at least not until they're ready to heal). They're like swollen lumps.

Actually, it can appear in several forms, one of which does appear to have a white head. I believe it's called folliculitus, or something like that.

Ouch! Sounds like it is major ingrown hairs! Soak in a bath and try to gently exfoliate the skin. I also go over the area with a clearisil pad. The salycic acid devoures bacteria and will help with the unglogging of the pores. Daba bit of acne cream on after. This has helped me in the past.

My staph had a hole in it that black stuff poured from. D:

Sounds like ingrown hairs to me, too.. I have a bad one right now that just won't go away...

And... hot water on a rag pressed down to release pressure... squeeze.

I guess this isn't relevant for this thread anymore, so I may post somewhere else. I tried a lot of the things everyone mentioned (new razor each time, bath with salts, acne cream, Cortaid, deodorant...), and the bumps lessened a little, but didn't go away. I did end up soaking them in hot water then pretty much squeezing the gross puss out, which made them just bumps and look okay in time for V-day. BUT they didn't go away, and I just kind of hoped they'd heal, and in the meantime, kept having sex with my boyfriend.
Well, by yesterday I was growing kind of anxious because it's been over a week, so I went to my ob/gyn today (I haven't been in to work because I'm embarrassed about it, but I have a bachelor party on Sat!!)... and she says I have.... herpes!!!!!!
Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. I never in a million years expected that.
I don't know what the hell to do and I'm so confused/pissed off/scared/sad.
I know that there are meds and a lot of people have it, but omigosh, it still sucks!
    So um, yeah. :-(
Wow, that was actually my first initial reaction to your post, but I didn't want to alarm you.

Honestly soooo many people have herpes. Like another member here said awhile back, herpes is the common cold of STDs...it's not going to kill you or sterilize or deform you. It's more of an inconvenience and pain than anything else.

What did your boyfriend have to say about everything? Has he been tested? Did your doc run a screen for all other STDs for you, as well?

^ yah that's why i didnt post either. It sounded like herpes, you might have been carrying it and because of the irritation caused an outbreak.

    Best of luck darlin

You're right in that it is quite common, but I wouldn't downplay it by saying it is comparable to a common cold. Herpes is GENERALLY not a problem, but it can cause some major issues, especially during childbirth.

Genital herpes is much more prevalent than asthma in the United States. I'm pretty sure I read a JAMA article last year that showed that, although herpes is on the decline, about 15 to 18% or so tested from teenage years to approx 50 are still positive.

Re-read: I said in the "common cold of STDs." As far as health risks, herpes is to other STDs (like AIDS) what a common cold is to other diseases (like cancer). It won't kill, deform, or sterilize a person who contracts is. Most other STDs, if left untreated, can have devastating consequences to the person who has contracted it.

In some ways, herpes has the most devastating consequences through transmission because of the problems caused when transmitted during childbirth which include central nervous system infections and TORCH syndrome. It is definitely a killer

Sure, but my statements were made to ease the mind of an ADULT female who is not pregnant with the intent of easing her mind about a situation that she is in. When passed thru sexual contact (not birth), it does not have consequences as devastating as other STDs. That's all I was saying.
