I put this in here because, well, I had no idea where to put it. Some questions are about stripping, but not all.
So...I've just found out that I might have the opportunity to study in Australia next year. The details are murky, but you SW'ers can help a bit with that! (And I would be most grateful)
Obviously I would want (need) to work part-time while in school. By the time I leave, I'll most likely have enough $ to cover the first year's tuition...but it's a two-year program, and I'll need $ for housing, food, transport, etc.
What sort of visa should I be looking at obtaining? I know in the UK one can get a student visa which allows up to 20 hours per week of work...does Australia offer something similar? (For reference, I have dual citizenship--US and Italian. Don't know if that affects what sort of visa I could get, or how easy/hard it will be for me to get it.)
And of course, I would want this "work" to be dancing. How difficult is it to get hired in an AUS club as a house dancer? Is it easier or more difficult for foreign girls? (Ethnically speaking, I'm Romanian, and that's what I present myself as in the club) , but legally speaking, would it be difficult to get hired since I'm not an Australian citizen?
I will be combing through Club Chat for info on Melbourne clubs, but in general...there are enough clubs in Melbourne where one can feasibly make a decent living, right? (I've got to admit I'm surprised at some of the $ figures quoted by some Aussie girls on here...prostitution is legal, yet men are still flocking to SC's?) And one girl that I know of who danced in Australia said that none of the clubs had poles or stages...True or no? (That would be a little disappointing, since I'm used to getting everyone's attention with flashy pole tricks)
Argh. Sorry this ended up being so long! But really, if anyone here can give me any information about any of these things, I will be your willing love slave forever. (Tips on good, informative online sites for more information on student/work visas and/or dancing would also earn you my love-slave-ism.)
Before last week I never really considered living/working in Australia, but then this opportunity came up and got me all excited. Now I just have to see if it's even feasible before I end up getting worked up over nothing.
