    Poledancing schools in Las Vegas?

Has anyone been to any of the poledancing schools in Las Vegas?

    Was it value for money?
Would you recommend it to your friends? (or us?!)

I think I've seen ads for it on las vegas Craigslist. I took a couple classes here in Toronto. They were alright - I learned a few spins, but most of the class was cheezy dance moves a real stripper would never do (I hope not!). It was okay I guess, I'm glad I learned those spins, but I have not returned since then.

Honestly, you'll probably gain much better experience by just learning on the job. Why pay for a class when you can go to work with the pros and make money at the same time?

Fawnia Mondey-Dietrich is hosting a IPF (International Pole Federation) Launch..

    Dear Dancers and Instructors!

I am delighted to invite you to attend the launch of the International Pole Federation™ (IPF):
A Federation established to facilitate communication between pole dancers, teachers and world-class dancers internationally.

The International Pole Federation™ has been established to help maintain standards in the pole dancing industry by providing guidelines suggested by the best dancers from around the world. The IPF has come transpired in response to a huge expansion in the industry and the resulting need for quality to be maintained as demand grows. The IPF will provide various modes of communication whereby any dancer (in any country) can have access to the latest information on all news and events, (not specific to one school or location). Members will be able to contact and communicate with dancers anywhere around the world to share ideas and experiences.

We would like to invite you to participate in the event, as this will be an opportunity to showcase our American talent to a National and International audience.

    Who We Are

In the USA the IPF affiliates are Fawnia Mondey-Dietrich (West) and Mary Ellyn Weissman (East).

Fawnia is known for her production of the world’s first instructional pole dancing DVD. Living in Canada she began her career as an exotic dancer in 1994 and began teaching that same year. Fawnia is also a personal fitness trainer, writer, model and actress.
In 2005 she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she opened Pole Fitness Studio.

Mary Ellyn is the owner of Empowerment Through Exotic Dance, Ltd in the south suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been dancing since 2001 and has been teaching pole and exotic dance since 2004. She is a certified Group Fitness Instructor and a Master Level Yoga Instructor.

    Agenda

We have two primary goals for this event.

The first is to introduce the IPF and pole dancers from around the country to the media and to promote pole dancing as an art form as well as a respected style of fitness.

The other is to introduce the IPF to you and to start the networking that is important in promoting pole dancing in a respectable and positive light. We believe that the IPF will be important to all pole dancing schools and will be the catalyst that spurs the growth of our positive image to the rest of the world.

With that in mind we have organized an evening of activities which we feel will be informative as well as entertaining consisting of:

    - A pre-event meeting for schools only to introduce our goals and plans for the upcoming year and beyond
    - Begin networking to recruit local IPF board members who will support the IPF affiliates in their roles
    - Gather information from local schools and teachers as to how you feel we can help you best
    - Network with other schools to form liaisons for sharing ideas and develop resources for problem-solving
    - Showcase pole dancing to the media and public in attendance

    Performances

The International Pole Federation™ would love to present the media in attendance with a showcase of the best talent in the United States.

Therefore, we would like to invite you to prepare up to a 5min performance (to be performed by you, or one of your teachers) in a style that represents you / your school best. This performance can be as complicated or as simple as you like… this will not be a competition – more a celebration of the art of pole dancing and the beauty and strength required by those who dance.
Dancers will be announced as “Betty smith from WA” or “Betty smith from ********* Pole School” and the dancer may wear costumes or branded promotional gear. However there can be no topless costumes or any form of nudity and no g-strings. One of the aims of the IPF is to bring pole dancing more into the mainstream and our joint effort to present our industry positively will bring us all benefits.
Finally, it is not required that you must perform if you attend, but it will be a good opportunity to present your own unique style.

We will be inviting over 50 schools from the Western United States to attend and perform… and we hope to have you involved on the night. There will be a limited number of spots open for performances so those who reply earliest will be given first consideration.

Please contact Fawnia by phone if you wish to showcase a performance during the International Pole Federation™ launch. The schedule will need to be finalized as soon as possible.

    Promotion

If you have decided you will be attending the International Pole Federation™ Launch, and would like to supply a media statement to us (see attached form) - we will be providing everyone with a media pack when they arrive and you are welcome to have all your details included in this pack. Media information sheets MUST be submitted to Fawnia no later than February 21st Late submissions will not be included in the media package to the press. Due to printing limitations we cannot make any exceptions nor can we accept pre-printed sheets upon arrival - all sheets must be submitted by February 21st.

Please be aware that the purpose of the evening is to promote the industry as a whole, therefore the promotion of individual schools to the guests / media will not be appropriate.
You can of course exchange business cards, but to be fair to the smaller schools we have attending we would ask you to use your discretion about what is reasonable promotion.

Handing out flyers/brochures/promo items on the night will not be permitted; e.g. any school buying tickets for promo girls to secretly circulate and hand out information will, along with their guests be asked to leave by security. We are letting people know this now, as the focus of the IPF launch is to network with your peers and promote pole dancing as a reputable, valid form of dance. It is not a night to compete against one another. As mentioned above you may wear branded promotional gear during and after your show if you prefer. Please contact Fawnia for more information on this.

If you are able to RSVP ASAP we would love to hear from you. Please RSVP by phone or by email, and mention if you will be attending the meeting and dinner at 6:00pm or just the performance portion of the night at 8:00pm.

The establishment of the International Pole Federation™ has required months of work and we strongly believe that the collaboration of all schools, regardless of size or focus, will lead to better standards of quality and communication across the board.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,

    Best regards,

    Fawnia Mondey-Dietrich
    Mary Ellyn Weissman
