Default can you tan with self tanner on?

i'm going tanning today (first time in well over a year) to start some base color.

i have self tanner already on my body.... with that effect the tan i get? will the stain on my skin cause me to tan unevenly or does the UV go through the self tanner stain?

self tanner has no sunblock in it (unless it specifically says it does) so it shouldn't affect your tan. Many lotions meant for tanning actually have self-tanners in them.

It's actually a better way to tan, imo. Don't make the UV light do all the work.

I use self tanner all the time and only tan twice a week at the most. It makes my skin happier (I am so pale underneath all of this!) and I like the color better.

I think it is better to put on the self tanner after you tan....like...right after. This way your pores open up so your skin sucks the color in better. Thats just what ive herd...im not sure if it makes a difference with beforehand though.

^This is true. But it doesn't make a huge difference really....the only thing I have learned though is not to put tanner on and go to the tanning bed the same day. If you sweat , etc, the self tanner can come off in that area, say the small of your back, right above your butt where most of us sweat in tanning beds, or the center of your back. And then you're left with a splotchy spot.

    I speak from experience.

I like the gradual tanning lotions myself. they smell better and seem to develope a nice color when used with tanning.

you don't want your pores open for self tanning. Self tanners work by staining the epidermis. You want it as even as possible. Any collection of it in pores makes it look like you have freckles, but not nearly as cute. You shouldn't even shave right before self-tanning.

I like to tan then apply self tanner when I get home. I get super dark this way. I wouldn't apply before tanning since sweating may make it streaky.
