    Default Pulled muscle?

What are the odds you could pull both your groin muscles at the same time?

I did the hip adduction machine at the gym, I didnt think I overdid it, but god, my inner thigh muscles are KILLIN me. Not the usualy sore after a workout hurt, but like, hard to walk, immense pain hurt. I worked out 2 days ago, haven't been to the gym since, and it seems to be hurting worse, not less. What can I do to make it better? Soak in the tub with epsom salt, take ibuprofen, what else? I gotta work tonight.
    Thanks

With those machines, the odds are VERY good. You probably shouldn't work...just rest...but if you HAVE to work, just take it easy. I would also advise to do some cardio every day (to get the blood pumping) to help those muscles heal.

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Thanks Venus.
couldnt go to work. I can barely walk, let alone do dances, which really really sucks, concidering Magic convention is in town, along with the NBA all stars thing. Great money in town right now...and here I am, sitting at home with thighs swollen so much they are rubbing together.

Hey...if the odds are so good at pulling a muscle with thoes machines...what would be a better way to work the hips and thighs? just squats and lunges?

Yeah, the problem with those machines is the movement. Most people set it to stretch their legs ALLLLL the way to the sides (which is a no-no). Doing that (with weights) is a great way to really tear the muscles. It doesn't help at all. It will also cause joint damage. If you are going to use those machines, make sure that you do NOT go much past your hip width. You don't need to do the chinese splits on every move to build the muscles. Also, the weight could be too heavy.

This is one of the reason I prefer free weights over the Circuit training machines. They just don't give you over confidence when you're doing weights.

Squats/lunges/leg raises...all of that stuff is great for hips and thighs. You don't need the machines to train those areas. The big misconception is that you need to train all of the muscles "separately". There is no such thing. All of your muscles are working together. If you are training right, you will effectively train all of the muscles of that group. So, properly executed squats/dead lifts/good mornings/etc. will train quads/hams/calves/glutes/etc. No need for the machines. Go to the library and get Arnold Swarzeneggers (sp?) Body Building Encyclopedia. It has every single weight training exercise you need (and no, you won't look like him if you do them. ).

In the meantime, keep the body warm (no sitting around eating ice cream). Walk it out several times a day...after you warm the body up, slowly stretch the muscles (stretch to pain and then stop...don't push past it). Take hot baths with salts to help break down the acid buildup (which is what causes the pain). Take your Ibuprofen as needed. Drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon!
