    Default Jury Duty?

I just got an automated call informing me of my selection for jury duty next Tuesday. This is the first time I'm hearing of this, they did not mention me by name, I have no jury paperwork from the mail, and have no participation number because I got nothing in the mail and no number from the automated call. It's too late to call today and it's Friday.

I cannot do it either because I'm moving from the country this month and have absolutely no time to do this carp.

I can't even request an excuse without a participant number.... wtf is going on here???

How funny. I got my summons a couple weeks ago. I'm on call for the whole of March.

At the bottom of my letter it says:
The US District cour will never ask for personal information over the telephone. Most contact between the court and a prospective juror takes place through the US Mail. Any telephone contact initiated by the court will not include requests for social security numbers, credit card numbers, or any other personal or sensitive information.

Um yeah, however when they select you for jury duty, you get the juror paperwork in the mail about a month before you'll be on call. This call is telling me I am selected to go to jury duty on Tuesday already, and I haven't gotten any juror paperwork in the mail and no participation number, which is required to check for details of court when I call into the Jury Hotline this weekend. My husband is on call for this moth and he was sent a whole packet, some of it he had to fill out and send back. I got nothing and now I'm supposed to go to court in 4 days with no participation number to figure out what's going on?!

This is the only contact I've had, and nothing through the mail.

I think you can just ignore it, but if you want to be sure, you could call the office on Monday. (The link is for the office number, it's different from the automated one in my letter. So you might get to talk to a real person.)

They've been all over me. This is the third time I've had to sit in that room in four years!

Turns out it was for my husband, who has been oncall this month. Somehow they called MY number instead of his to inform him.

    Weird.

    LOL

That's funny. Maybe he listed your number as an alternative?

Anyhow, this whole month business is crap. I didn't mind having a day to plan around, but a whole month? Ick.

I think maybe because I'm on his Cingular phone plan and both numbers are under his name.
