Default Question on how to keep a wig in place

I want to wear various color wigs for some photos which will be taken while I am doing pole tricks and since I have never used a wig before I am not sure of the best thing to use to keep the wig on me.

I know I need to use a stocking cap to keep my own long hair in place but are there any special kinds of hair pins or clips for keeping a wig secure while doing spinning or upside down tricks?

    Thanks!

I always wear a wig to work, but never a wig cap under it since they're made of nylong and get way too sweaty.

I take the front half of my hair and upper back part of my hair and wind it up in pin curls (but secured with bobby pins, not pin curling clips). Then I put the wig in place and secure it with plenty of bobby pins. I weave the bobby pins through the mesh lining of the wig and then weave them through the pin curls.

I never have probloms with my wig coming loose, slipping off, etc. Your best bet is to use large bobby pins. Those small ones bend out of shape and fall out too easily.

I'm headed out to get some of the large size bobby pins and I will try the front and back thing with my own hair too. That will probably be better for me then trying to put it up all in one spot since my hair is quite long.

    Thanks for the help!

I think that bobby pins and hairpins are being confused here. Bobby pins are the ones with no space in between, they DON'T bend. Hair pins are the ones with space, that actually bend.

Personally, I would use small bobby pins. In my experience larger pins=larger headaches at the end of the night.

Also, I've been told to ALWAYS wear a stocking cap with a wig. They help preserve the strength of your real hair (don't want breakage do ya?). Up to you though....

Hi Jayda. Thanks for adding your info!

I won't be wearing these wigs all night or working in them. I will just be doing some pole action photos while wearing the wigs.

I have a ton of little bobby pins so I guess I'll just experiment to find what is best for my head. I was just wondering if there were any special sort of pins or clips that regular wig wearing women used.

These aren't expensive wigs and I don't even need then to look natural or real since these are going to be fantasy style photos. I just need them to stay on my head when upside down or doing spins. The last thing I need is a bunch of photos with a crooked or falling off wig. There would be nothing sexy about that, lol!

Most wigs also have a claps on them already. When you put it on you just tighten the claps to what feels comfortable for you. Oh and please use a stocking under the wig it makes it fit better and protects your hair from breakage.
