I am starting a 9 to 5 in about three weeks doing construction admin. The pay is decent for someone with limited education (I am still taking a 70% pay decrease though). I will have full benefits to include a 401k and much needed health insurance since I couldn't seem to stay out of the So FL sun.
I am now 32 and have been dancing for two years. It has certainly had its ups and downs. Prior to dancing I have always held office jobs i.e. insurance agent and paralegal. If I knew then what I know now, I would have started dancing at 18.
I started dancing because my daughter and I lived in a converted garage apartment where we could not even brush our teeth with the nasty well water. Furthermore, the schools around here suck so I have her in private school. (She goes to school with a certain early 90s white rapper's daughters). That isn't relevant to this post. I just find it f'n funny. Anyhow the most I ever made in an office setting was $32,000.00 yearly and our quality of life sucked. I was working two jobs and never saw my child.
Now that I know I am close to the end I realize that I really like dancing. I have finally learned to work sober. I used to work, get trashed and be useless the following day due to hangover. Now, I work sober, get up and go to the gym, clean my house and spend quality time with my child. And I am earning a lot more money sober.
When I think about stopping I feel like I am gonna have an anxiety attack. I would like to continue, however, I made a commitment to go to work for my pops and I don't want to disappoint anyone (I've done enough of that).
Can anyone who has made the switch tell me how they made the transition?
I know this post is long and I greatly appreciate any advice.
