    Default new ideas for outfits

i'm stuck in a rut when it comes to my stripper clothing. here's what i usually wear (always black):

thong under boyshorts, long black velvet skirt (down to ankles), and sequinned halter top or vinyl bikini top with tall black/clear stilettos.

i do my best to dress modestly (so the customer will buy to see me take it off), as dancerwealth recommends. my style is classy goth/burlesque. i'm looking for items that are sexy and classic, not trashy. i've spent the evening looking at clubwear items and most of them seem to reveal too much too soon. fabrics i like: velvet, leather, vinyl, silk, cotton. i'm looking to explore with colors, such as green and purple.

    any recommendations/advice/items? thanks.

in my experience, wearing little skimpy stripper shit doesn't stop the guys from buying, they may buy more! or a guy who wanted to see more skin origionally may buy who wouldb't before.

    just food for thought.

generally, if a lot of girls dress super skimpy, it's best to do that.if they cover up, follow suit.

and maybe get a dressmaker to make you some things, it's generally about the same cost, and then it's customized.

I agree. Go with the trends of the club. You don't have to wear the same things, but 'play along'.

It seems that on SW many posters bash the bikini look...but I love it. I think it's great for my body type and even better most of the dancers at my club get their 'custom made' outfits from the same 3 costume makers, so they are all variations of similar styles. Only a handful of us wear bikinis regularly.

The crowd I dance for couldn't really give a shit about classy vs trashy. As long as you look hot, you have their attention. I think it's like that for most men anyway.

A satin corset in a bright red, emerald green or purple would look amazing. You can always buy a white one and have it dyed if you can't find the colour you want.

Or skip the velvet skirt, and try a corset with black boyshorts, thigh-highs and long black stretch-satin gloves for a classic burlesque-style look.

Or a long purple velvet gown with slits all the way up the sides...

Or try switching up your footwear with some boots...

Or try a short black leather dress that laces up the front...

Or try one of those black poufy tulle skirts. (hard to describe; i'll try to find a picture of one ona website. I know a lot of online stripperwear stores carry them, but can't seem to find one at the moment.) anyway, it works perfectly with a black corset, and you can get one of the longer ones for more dramatic effect. But it's still a bit racier than a non-translucent skirt. There's one girl whose style seems similar to yours, and she BANKS when she wears her black corset and tutu skirt combo with knee-high black boots. It's always the most unusual outfit in the club, but not in a bad way--the guys love it!

great ideas, picaresque! we seem to have similar tastes, experiences with dancing, and so on. i'm going to check out that website more when i get home from class--the clothes on there look delicious. i know the skirt you're talking about. i type in "burlesque" on ebay and it comes up a lot.

what do all of you think about the burlesque/moulin rouge-style mini top hats? are those appropriate or not?

Can you do theme sets at your club? Maybe test the waters with the top hat during a moulin-rouge theme set.

I'm still trying to get up the nerve to wear one of those fedoras onstage. I've got this outfit that's a black square bikini top with black flared pants, rhinestone drop earrings and a matching belly chain...and I think a sexy black fedora would just complete it. But maybe not--maybe it would just get people to point and laugh.
So I haven't worn it yet.

when i first started dancing and said i wanted to wear things like top hats and fedoras onstage the other dancers said i shouldn't do it. yet now that i'm braver i might try it. maybe you ought to as well, just to see how it goes. after all, it will definitely set us apart. i think your outfit idea is hot!

What about something the girls aren't wearing? If the girls are doing bikinis wear a gown. Guys will want to see whats under it. Also black isn't the best color for standing out. Try red or white instead or other brighter colors that may suit your skin tone.

Go for it; wear a hat. It'll make you stand out and that is good.

How about gowns and gloves? Long black, green, or deep red gown, choker, gloves, thigh-highs, maybe a waist cincher or corset underneath -- it's impossible to go wrong with that look. I am currently experiencing a gown renaissance in my wardrobe and I have found some extreme bargains on eBay -- like, $25 for awesome gowns.

And for those of you worried about the hats -- we are strippers, and that gives us permission - nay, it demands -- that we at least occasionally wear outrageous things.
