Default Ode to Fat Tuesday.........King Cake

My girls from the Key West party know my love of sweet, donut-like creations, and the King Cake is my ultimate most favorite sweet thing I eat all year long. I am literally bopping around in my chair at the thought of it. I already called my favorite bakery and they put one aside for me...............OMG I am so happy right now!

(doesn't hurt that I had an $800 night last night, yes, I'm bragging because gaddamnit that's a fucking good night around these parts)

I am planning on making one of these for a Mardi Gras party I'm throwing on Saturday (just for practical reasons)! Along with gumbo, jambalaya, mini-muffalettas, dirty rice made risotto-style, chocolate bourbon pecan pie, cornbread, pralines, and plenty of booze.

This is one of the recipes I haven't decided on source-wise. Do you have a favorite version? I've found a few online and am unsure which is the best approach. My baking skills have improved dramatically over the years, almost catching up with my cooking skills, but anything involving yeast still makes me a little nervous, so any advice you have would be fab.

    HAPPY MARDI GRAS, Y'ALL!

LOL! "Recipe: Go to a dang bakery already. Open box and eat. Try not to choke on the Baby Jesus. Serves 1-6." That would make my life a hell of a lot easier, it's true. Call me a glutton for doin' things the hard way.

Don't get me wrong, I know how to bake. Unfortunately my new house does not have an oven and we make everything in a toaster oven. Somehow I think making a King Cake in that would yield horrendous results.
