    Default Tan in a shot!

I was looking at a thread-- a girl had mentioned she got a shot that made her tan. Anyone know about this and where I can get it??

the only thing I can think of is that it might be some type of beta carotine shot.....

there is nothing reliable in a shot out on the market yet. i would tread carefully...

what is coming in the next year or so is clinuvel... the injection that stimulates melanin.

Ok so she gave me the scoop:

It is a horomone called Melanotan II which helps your skin produce a tan, therefor you do not have to tan as much. She said she got a little nausceous but other than that it worked good.

If you go to melanocorp.com, they sell it. It also supposedly increases your libido! I am going to do a little more research before I try it.

I did some research last night, and my results are inconclusive. (i hope thats a word). Some say it works great, some say not at all.. I think it depends on how much you use and how much you tan.

My old room mate is going to try it out, she had early signs of melanoma and is really longing for a tan. When she gets it I will give you updates.

In the meantime, Melanocorp.com has a forum on there which you can register to view-- it has peoples' personal usage logs, how there skin is turning out, how they feel etc.

I really am hoping this stuff works!

Is anyone else having C. Thomas Howell in Soul Man flashbacks? I know...that was a pill not a shot, but same idea!

I've heard decent things about it. There are a couple other places you can buy it, other than the companies website.

it was originally developed for people with Skin Cancer with the hopes that it would get rid of the cancer by tricking the body (can't remember how). The end results were darker tans in less time... no effect on skin cancer. The original Melanotan wasn't that great, if memory serves me correctly and they changed it up with the Melanotan II. The largest reported side effect is increased libido. It is now going to be marketed as a sexual performance enhancer for men.

I think most commonly it is an injection but a friend of mine who has access to the pharmaceutical grade stuff said there is a version of the same product that one does not have to inject.

She has been using it 3 days. Using .5 mg a day. Had extreme nausuesa the first day, so far no more... no signs of a tan yet, but she hasn't exposed herself to any kind of sunlight.

I'll give you more updates soon!

as far as i'm told, they are only up to phase III trials in certain countries. (shareholder news)

it is possible those people who have had it are in the trial, which explains all the side effects.

melanotan, made by epitan, was rebranded clinuvel because they weren't going to be able to continue getting FDA approval etc if it didn't have other benefits aside from tanning.

now it's being used to treat certain cancers, transplant patients, PMLE and other medical uses, they have approval to continue.

the first people who will get it in Australia will be those at risk of cancer and the other conditions named above. after that - i'll be in like flynn.

i wouldn't be so keen to volunteer until they've stabilised it a bit more.

Well she's been using i guess 2-4 weeks by now and has a base tan. She said its very noticiable in her face. She just up'd her dosage and the nausea came back, but before that she was fine except her first injection. She loves it. She said shes really horny and she is losing weight.

It's not going to just make you tan without getting in the sun. It will help you tan more in less time though....

If you're increasing the melanin won't you still have skin damage? Or is that just from direct UVA/UVB rays.

She's been in the tanning bed for 4 minutes in the past two weeks. You do need sun (indoor or outdoor) to activate it. She is fair-skinned and the reason she can't tan normally is cause her dermatologist said it was a big no-no (she was a tan addict like me, going almost everyday). She really likes her results so far.

I have no idea. I think damage comes from the strength of UV rays, not melanin but don't quote me on that!

^ Should be interesting to follow than. I'm guessing they wouldn't make a shot that had the same effects on the skin as tanning would but who knows.

ok, they're different shots. i thought so.

melanin does not cause skin damage... otherwise dark-skinned individuals would be damaged from birth.

it is the UV that destroys the skin.

Ok so it's the means that damages the skin not the melanin.

It sounds like this product needs some work, then? The shot of giving myself a shot freaks me out... But it's better than wrinkles!
