Default I <3 The Dollar Store!

Heh.. We just took a trip to the Dollar Store by Dan's Store, and we spent over $50! You'd be surprised at what you can get there. I snagged pretty kitchen towels that match my new kitchen curtains that my Mother-In-Law got me. Totally happy about that, since I couldn't find matching ones ANYWHERE else!

We got other random stuff, but it all rocks! Still can't believe we spent over $50 at a DOLLAR store.. LOL

    More favorites of mine include:

*Ocean State Job Lot: Of course, if you don't live here, you wouldn't know about it. It's one of the best places to go for cheap stuff!

*Christmas Tree Shops: I'm pretty sure they're only in the Northeast, but if you have a chance to visit one, do it! This place IS my Disneyland.

Everyone else share your cheapo places with the rest of us too!

My favorite store ever before I moved south was a thrift store AND dollar store. I bought effin EVERYTHING there. AHAHAHA! Gods I miss that. We have some cheesy dollar stores around here. Ugh.

I love seconhand stores and dollar stores! You can seriously find everything. And sometimes brand name stuff too way cheaper. Loves it.

Big Lots! (formerly MacFrugal's) is a total gem. They sell furniture now, which is great.

& Goodwill (at least back home) has a deal with local stores in which "non-sale"-able merchandise is donated & sold at a fraction of retail. I bought a bunch of new things the last time I was there.

Last but not least, you will thank me for this- The Dollar Store sells a cleaner called L.A.'s Totally Awesome. "All Purpose Concentrated Cleaner * Degreaser Spot Remover". It contains 2-butoxy ethanol....This stuff will clean items that haven't been cleaned in YEARS...It has the same cleaning power as bleach but no bleach stench. OK that sounded like an infomercial but I'm sharing out of cleaning OCD zeal.

Every time I hit the dollar store its all about the picture frames. They always have cute ones and a huge variety of styles. They look really nice on a mantle or some shelves, and no one can tell they are cheap plastic unless they pick them up and feel the weight. I've a got a zillion dollar store frames all over the house.

Next time I'll have to pick up some of that Totally Awesome cleaner. I know I've seen if before but avoided it for fear it was cheap and watered-down. Thanks for the heads up!

Oooh! I totally forgot about Big Lots! My Mother-In-Law shops there WEEKLY. She also swears by AJ Wright. I'm not sure if they're all over, or just around here.

I love bargain-shopping though, so keep them coming!

Off-Topic, but kind of On-Topic---Someone posted on Freecycle today that they had a dresser for offer. I emailed them as soon as the offer came through, and I had Dan go pick it up right away. It is GORGEOUS! It's about 60 years old. They had painted it white and the drawers in a baby blue, with pastel yellow knobs for when their Son was little and had a nursery. It is in IMMACULATE condition. It matches that Changing Table that we'd gotten before Hunter was born PERFECTLY! Bargain-Hunting rocks, but FREE stuff is so much better! LOL

I emailed the lady back and thanked her so much! This is perfect!

I love Big Lots when I have to get cheap stuff for my shows- body wash, candles, cheap towels, lotion- I'm not going to pay full price for stuff I'm only going to use a couple times. Family Dollar has good things on occasion, too.

My favorite thing here in Nashville is called Essex. It's a store where all the electronics are about half what they would be in a retail store, and all the stuff is brand new. They're overruns from places around the area that distribute out of Nashville. I've gotten some awesome shit from that place.

I don't even want to get started on how much I love dollars stores/thrift stores/etc. When the mum-in-law and I went to Goodwill last time (which is a while back) we spent over two hours in there loading up a basket full of stuff!

I think I saw this in my lab book, it looked familiar, but this was online:
Glycol alkyl ethers are commonly used as solvents. 2-Butoxy Ethanol is one of the most toxic of the glycol ethers.

You should use products containing butoxyethanol with extreme care. It is a poison that can easily absorb through your skin to harm you. When working with it, always wear gloves and goggles and be sure the you have enough ventilation.

LMFAO.. She DID get them at Big Lots! She got 5 sets of curtains. Know how much she paid for them? A grand total of $10! And they're not ugly cheapy curtains either! LOL

Here's a pic of the Dresser. It's absolutely beautiful. I finally got his room all cleaned up and his things put away, too. Tonight, I tackle Delia's room. THAT is so not going to be fun.

    ::sigh::

We have found some great stuff for free. Rhia-we got a huge Bassett dresser for the twins from someone's front yard right up the street. You know, at the the curb with a "FREE" sign on it. It was missing one drawer, but had the drawer face. We bought an art crate from Michael's for 3 bucks that fit perfectly and voila! We have a huge Goodwill right up the street, and a couple of decent dollar stores. No Big Lots around here, but the one by our house in Tampa always smelled like feet and old people.

Hehe.. The Big Lots around here smell like feet. So does Goodwill. I think just about every Goodwill or Sal's (Salvation Army) smell like feet, at least all the ones I've been in do. But, I brave the stench and get some kickass deals.

That's a total score, though, Chris! A few days ago there was a dresser on the curb of the house next to us. First it caught my eye, then when I got closer to look at it, I'd noticed it had been drawn on with crayon and marker, some drawers were there but broken, and it had a few HUGE ass stickers on them. So, I passed on it and let the garbage truck collect it.

Then, voila! This fell right into my lap yesterday.

The blanket that I made Hunter is covering the top of the dresser, because, even though it was in immaculate condition.. Dan MADE it fit into the backseat of the car. There was no way he wasn't going to take it home after he'd seen it. So, long story short--The paint on the front edge got a little dinged. No biggie.

Hunter has an awesome room, Rhia! That dresser is really nice, too.
