Both are really good. I personally think that MAC have better shimmer colours, but I prefer the matte colours from MUFE. MUFE shadows are nice because they're good to use as either a wet or a dry. You can wet your brush and they practically turn into paint, so you can get extreme vibrant colours from them. They also have some awesome colours, if you're into crazy bright stuff... they have a bright matte barbie pink, and matte canary yellow, bright lime green, etc, and you can't go past their flat matte black, for a really intense black look. I think MAC are better if you're going for a nice shimmery look, though.

Heh, not a lot of people know it but I actually did a 12 month degree in makeup artistry and technology (which I hated and have never used, other than to do my own makeup), and Make Up For Ever was the eyeshadow that all my trainers recommended if you want one that will STICK.
    darcy,

I like Loreal HIP as well. Their makeup has very high pigmentation especially great for people mixed race girls. I love it.

I find MUFE shadows harder to blend than MAC, esp if you're learning. I still have a hard time with my quad from MUFE - will post a pic wearing it once I upload it. Like their star powders tho(similar to MAC's pigments) - super easy to blend and come in lots of bright colors too. Shimmery shadows generally blend easier than matter ones. To make your blue shadow really pop, you should use a base that is also blue. MAC shadestick in Sea Me is great and it's kinda crayon-like so it's really easy to use. I'm wearing that in the first pic and so is my friend. If that is too bright, they also have a silvery blue one - Silverbleu . The UD primer will help it last longer, but won't really make it "more blue". I always use a shadestick in a coordinating color if I want my shadow really bright.

I've gotten good by practicing. Paying attention when I get my makeup done at MAC or at work. If I know I'm spending more than $45 when I go to MAC, I try to schedule an appt to have them do my makeup. Hopefully, I'll learn something new or I'll show them a picture of makeup I like and ask them to do it on me. I think good brushes are essential for blending. MAC brushes are fantastic, Sephora and Target also have good ones that are a bit cheaper. I also look at the member pics and tutorials on specktra.net to learn new techniques and ideas.

Im big on smokey eyes, But I use 2 shades of blues, shimmer on the lid itself, greens ( 3 shades ) 2 goldens..and than a true gold...gray and 2 shades of black mixed with 2 shades of purple haha.. I literally use that much in one night to form one shade. i hate fake lashes so I stray away from em'. although I think if I used them it would add more umph to my eyes

this is basic everday look ^

the more red , pink and purple ^ of course that's how dark it looks when my eyes are shut.

the normal with it closed ^

Using MAC paint as a base coat and then following with the CCB (Cream Color Base) will help you adhere and layer the shadows/piggies.

I have UDPP...if you want it, it's yours. I used it a grand total of 2 times. I like it...but I much more prefer the MAC Paints and CCB.

I followed one of those tutorials on Specktra and it looks awesome! I feel so purdy and sexy. But I tried taking pics with the camera phone (as I don't own a digital camera ) but the makeup didn't really show up. I mean, it looked liked I was wearing makeup sorta but not really. Does that mean it my makeup won't really stand out in the club lighting? Should I wear more?

These are a couple pics but after looking thru the couple dozen photos i took, it turns out the majority of them are just blurs!!! Dammit. They looked really good in the preview screen. Why does it always lie to me? Anyway, one of them is sorta blurry but not too bad, and the other is ok but not really that close up (also, you'll have to excuse the dirty, unwashed hair lol.)

if you're serious, yeah I want it!

But maybe I should jsut get my ass to the MAC store and have them play on me. I've never tried the shadesticks but I've been wanting to, esp now.

the greens didn't come out as smokey as I wanted. I should have used black in the outer v and THEN gone over that with the dark green (femme noir).

    I used:
    hot & sour paint
    olive green pigment
    emerald green pigment
    femme noir e/s
BE's gossimer for highlight (applied wet)
    blacktrack on the top line
femme noir and emerald green on the bottom line
frostline on the rim (which sucks on the rim btw: it's golden, not white like I wanted)

The greens definately make brown eyes pop, though.

So, this thread got me all makeup happy and I was looking at MAC's stuff online and I don't see any good colors in paints or color cream bases. Like maybe 2 I'm interested in pigments. The counter at the Dillard's by me has a crappy selection too. Will they have more colors at the MAC store? I really don't feel like driving the 15 miles out of the way if their line is just boring now.

because of this thread, I went out and got new makeup today. EEE!

I got some MAC Fluidline in Blitz & Glitz, MAC Bare Canvas Paint (I compared the way e/s "popped" on this versus Beige-ing shadestick and thought BC looked much more true and had more staying power wen I tried to rub it), MAC brush 224 (tapered blending brush),

    and this Urban Decay pallete:

I can't wait to play! I'm also reading a lot on spektra.net. Great site. There's also some cool tutorials on youtube.

    You are really cute.

I am really girl next door too, but when I make myself up, I can play it off.
I think you just have to make your makeup darker/heavier. I like your techniques but they do look softer and lighter than what you need to wear in a club...

But I'm sure someone who knows better than me will get back to you on ow you can look more made up.

LatinaRose, how do you keep the eyeshadow from kinda..."sprinkling" down on your face when you apply it? I always have this problem, especially with darker or loose eyeshadow.
