Default Japanese Hair Relaxer---I did it!

I wanted to cancel my appointment for today because I have been so sick this week, but I put down a $400 deposit that I didn't want to lose.

After 6 hours in the salon my hair looks and feels totally different. I like it a lot so far, but the true test of whether or not I love it will be on Sunday, when I can wash my hair again and I see what it looks like when I do it...if it looks good and is as quick as they say it will be to do, then I will be in love with my hair.

You are going to love it. I did it 3 times for almost 3 years now. I had frizzy almost a afro type of hair and now sleek and straight. It is awesome!

I am going for a retouch next month. I can stay without one for 9-12 months.

Just thought I'll share thoughts on this one too, I've had this treatment done many times and I can't recommend it fast enough, although it might take some hours, is completely worthwhile! I had it done everytime I go back to Hong kong as it is waaaay cheaper there but just a little tip, if you're living in big cities (Well, I was living in London) or if you have a decent China Town near your city, have at look at their salon cos many times they have it 1/2 the price of normal one as it is VERY propular for us Asians...

So Yes, if you want silky smooth poker straight hair that last for months, Go for it! They also do a slight wavy premanent curls as well that looks lovely too, save a lot of time on Hot rollers/curlers daily.

Wow $400 is a lot...because I've had my hair done several times and the latest time, which was last year, cost me $165 AU. It's worth it though! It was so nice to be able to wash my hair and run out the door with wet hair and it still dry perfectly straight! I haven't had it done in a while though as I'm actually pretty indecisive with my hair and curl it quite often so I stopped, although I'm tempted to get it done again just to take away the frizz factor.

As China Girl said, if you live near any Asian salons, check out their prices, they're usually much cheaper, but ask them what product they are using first...the best brand is Shiseido, I'd avoid it if they were using something else - it's the recommended brand and it's the only product that didn't let my hair rekink after a few weeks.

Also, make sure you use really good shampoo and conditioner now, like redken or something, no supermarket brands...

And check out www.verticalsinhair.com for other tips and advice...there's lots of things you can't do to your hair now that you should know about or you'll wreck the treatment - and your hair could break.

I finally got around to posting a pic of my hair. Lemme tell you, I love love love my hair. I don't have to do anything to it, I try to brush it minimally to prevent damage or breaking. All I do is wash and go, but I still get a lot of tangles from work. In this pic, I have actually brushed my hair, but done nothing else, nor put any products.

My hair used to be frizzy/wavy. Not cute curly, just super frizzy semi curly. I wish I had taken a before pic. It was a major pain in the ass before, I would straighten and then the second I started to sweat it would pouf up. Major annoyance at work. It would take about 45 minutes to straighten. It looks super long lately, but I don't want to cut it...I love it way too much.

I don't care if I paid way more than others, my stylist did an awesome job and I will continue to go to him...even if it costs me a bundle. I don't like the Aveda shampoo he recommended, the damage remedy. It made my hair look oily. I sometimes use the Kheils everyday shampoo for frequent washes because I HAVE to wash my hair after work.

Oh I want to do this soooo baddd!! My hair is naturally thick and coarse (my asian side) and freaking curly (my caucasian side!). I don't know how the two mixed but I've got me quite an afro. Lately, I've gotten so lazy to even straighten my hair cuz of the weather, and when I'm at the club, I'm all hot and it just starts frizzing up anyways!! But this is great! Your hair looks FABULOUS!

hmm, I'm going home (philippines) in a few months .. I wonder if this movement has hit there?! Last time I went home (like 10 yrs ago), I got my hair straightened, but it was a straight poof! Not quite technologically advanced. I'll have to ask my cousinss...

    That looks fantastic!

I had it done a few years ago at an Asian salon...I had to sign a waiver because my hair had dye in it, and apparently any dye in your hair can alter the results. Anyways, it turned out well, but only lasted about 2 months before my hair started getting kinky again. I paid $300CAD.

Do not tuck your hair behind your ears, or pull it into a ponytail for some time.

I had one once in Beijing, and it was incredible. I'm a poor college student right now, so I have to rely on my Sedu and stay away from any kind of moisture in order to prevent it from frizzing up.

Ohhhhhh, I'm so jealous! I've been wanting to do this for a long time now. My hang-up is that I've always had curly hair, and I've never worn my hair in a totally straight style. Even when I do straighten the frizz, I go back and put loose curls on the ends and add volume to the top part. I'm just not sure if it would suit my face to wear it totally straight.

I would love to have this done to save time on the straightening process, which usually takes 30 minutes, but I'm sure I'd want to style it in some way, also. Regular straightening treatments don't last more than a couple of days on my hair, so they're no help.

Anyone have this done, and still style?
