    Post Question about Dance License

    Hello All.....
I am new to the site and to dancing (I audition in 2 days.) Anywho, I know the city I want to work in requires every dancer to obtain a dancer/entertainer license from the local police department, which from what I understand, stays on file at the police department. I am currenly in college as an eduaction major and will graduate this fall. I plan on becoming an Elementary school teacher, although I am worried that this license is going to be something that anyone (aka-employers) can find out about and look up and it will prevent me from becoming a teacher. Although dancing is not illegal, let's face it some employers/people find it to be morally wrong and I'm worried it will ruin my career as a teacher. Anyone know anything about licensing, who can find out that I have one and if it will ruin my career as a teacher?
    Thanks!

Sweetie, this has been covered lots. Go to search and look up teaching and dancing and you should find the answers you're looking for!

Actually, I've been wondering the same thing. The threads about teaching and dancing are usually "Can I teach and dance at the same time?"

Which is not the same thing.

I'd be curious to know this too.

Maybe call your local PD and ask them? It couldn't hurt, and maybe you'll find out something!

"Anyone know anything about licensing" - depends on which state and its laws.
"who can find out that I have one" - anyone that has the time and effort, i guess.
"if it will ruin my career as a teacher?" - more than likely if found out and reported.

...(independent of what is covered in other threads) Conduct your own test. Go to a private investigator and pay him to do a "complete" state and national background check on you (without telling him you are a stripper). Likely what they find is about all a school will find.
