Okay, so I bought a bundle of asparagus today.
Problem is, I have no idea what to do with it. I am cooking-impaired.
So what are some yummy/creative ways to prepare it?![]()
Also, is it true it makes your pee fluorescent yellow?

asparugus are really good sauteed in pan with olive oil, garlic, and maybe a dash of salt and pepper. or you can steam them. test them with a fork to see if their done; they should be tender, but not soft.
to prepare them for cooking, hold them at each end and bend gently until they snap. the end of the stalk that breaks off is the part you throw away (so cook the part with the little flowery green things at the end).
oh, they're also good if you squeeze some lemon over them after they're cooked.
enjoy![]()

Roasted Asparagus
2 pounds fresh asparagus
Good olive oil
Kosher salt, plus extra for sprinkling
Freshly ground black pepper
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Break off the tough ends of the asparagus and, if they're thick, peel them. Place the asparagus on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, then toss to coat the asparagus completely. Spread the asparagus in a single layer and sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper. Roast the asparagus for 25 minutes, until tender but still crisp.

and i haven't noticed that the color of my urine changes when i eat them, but you can definitely smell the aspartic acid. it isn't that bad though.

They're yummy raw, too!

I love asparagus, but am also cooking impaired, so I have no suggestions for you. Let us know how it turns out.

oh oh! they're really good with parmesan cheese too! if you roasted them like hardkandee suggested and put parmesean on top....that would be Delicious![]()
Yeah...I tried to make asparagus once(roasted). followed all the directions and pulled a pan full of dried green sticks out of the oven.....:-(
I havent tried it in my veggie steamer yet...I'm afraid.....
Hubby wont eat it..but I love it! Oh well..if I cant cook it..and asparagus craving is as good an excuse as any to eat out!(I use fish cravings too for that since I cant cook that either!)
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

heres a recipe with pictures. Also after the pepper, garlic and olive oil try putting a splash of lemon juice on them before they are cooked. Tastes really good.

I put it in the steamer with a lemon squirted over it, steam it about 10 minutes, then drizzle it with just a little butter. Or I sautee it with garlic in butter or olive oil. It's good in stir-fries, too. I also like to boil whole-wheat pasta in one pan, and then in a large skillet sautee chopped asparagus with garlic in olive oil; when the pasta's done, drain it and add it to the asparagus/garlic/oil mix in the skillet, sautee it for a minute, and add crushed red pepper flakes and parmesan. Super-easy, takes all of 15 minutes, and tastes like a restaurant meal.

I'm lazy. I buy them marinated in some sort of oil pre-packed (usually in glass container) and eat them that way. I like them "squishy" so I can spread them out on a sandwich.
Otherwise, steam them. I love the crunch. It's the only way I eat brocolli (as my (late) mum kinda killed eating it boiled for me - that woman was cooking impaired).

Hey, thanks for all the advice. Haha, I did try a bit of it raw but it was a little too...pungent for my liking.
It was a smash hit at dinner. I followed hardkandee's recipe but also sprinkled a little parmasan cheese on top.
OMG, it was so good.![]()
It is quite possibly my new favourite vegetable.
