    Default Smoking

Well, I'm working on quitting for good. After 100's of times trying but failing.
I'm trying http://www.chantix.com my Doctor says there is a 75% success rate
Zyban is only 30%, I quit for 6 months with Zyban I'm hoping to make this
the last time I quit, quitting smoking.

Just so you know, Zyban and Wellbutrin are the EXACT same thing, and sometimes one is cheaper than the other, if you have insurance the price difference can be considerable. Other than that....good luck!

    Nod, the anti-depressant in Zyban/Wellburtrin tweeked my bi-polar, I was a
complete psycho on that stuff. Manic and Mean! this Chantix works differently
I guess it blocks nicotine from sticking to the pleasure sensors so you don't
get enjoyment from smoking. I'm on day 5 of my first week right now. I'll
keep posting, I'm not even smoking a pack a day and I don't notice the
constant nagging as much. It's not a nicotine replacement system plus
the big tobacco companies have made it so they add more nicotine to
the tobacco so the over the counter products aren't as successful plus
it costs more to buy the gum/patch/commit/ than it does to buy a pack
of smokes. Also, I have found smoking is not sexy, most guys don't
like a smoker so I don't smoke at work. Smoking messes up my money
LMAO, so why spend money on something that makes you lose money,
ages you and is slowly killing you or giving you cancer. At one time I was
a two pack a day smoker so this is a big change, it's also a will power
game. I'm fed up with the habit, I keep thinking of a time when I didn't
smoke and how nice it was to be smoke free. The monkey is being
removed from my back slowly but surely!

    Thanks for the support!

i'm on my 5th day now, and I notice more and more that I don't really care.
I can't wait until after a full month if this keeps going as well as it is. I should
be smoke free soon. committ lozenges made me want to throw up, sick to my
tummy and they burn. Just an FYI, Good luck though a ton of people have quit
    with those too!

For my full time job, I work in a pharmacy.
Chantix sells like hotcakes, and people are having better success with it than other smoking cessation programs (ie Zyban, Commit, patches)

My friend's dad quit smoking with Chantix... I was amazed. It nearly knocked me on my ass, literally because he smoked like, a pack and a half a day for... well, ever. I almost never saw him without a cig. I'm glad you're making the effort and I know you can succeed, good luck!

Well, im on day 7, i'm doing well. I have smoked a total of 4 cigarettes today
and I don't feel the need to go smoke. I have, had some side effects
I have puked, I can't drink coffee. I'm worried about work that all the smoke
will make me vomit. I haven't been to work in 2 weeks this coming Friday.
Though I'm not hurting or anything yet... I am really tired all the time,
you read the side effects, I ended up with the sick to my tummy and
sitting on the toilet effects. I'm going to wait another 2 days, like
the doctor said "set a quit date". Well I'm fed up with feeling like
this, I hope it stops and I think it has to do with smoking. I have
a feeling if i just stop, these side effects will go away.
Good Luck, imho these side effects are worth not having copd or cancer
if I don't already have cancer from smoking as it is.

You'll be fine. Don't give up. And yes, the side effects are worth having than having cancer. I call cigarettes cancer sticks. It works for me so I guess think of them that way and I'm sure you wouldn't want that for the rest of your life.

Seems like you're at a good weight. No need for exercising. I wish I could say I was 124 lbs. I'm 5'2 and weigh 140 lbs.

I was up to 150 at one time down to 105 not good, ephedrine is not my friend.
I was on depo provera the birth control shot. After being off it for 2 years
and dancing my weight went back to normal between 124/134. I even
took 5 months off and my weight didn't change. I lost weight when I quit
drinking, I'm just worried about getting a pot belly while at home on my
rear reading SW eating whatever comes near me.

Speaking of eating I hear taco salad calling my name.

That depo shot sucks ass! I stopped after the first shot. And snacking on food won't hurt much. When you go back to work you'll get all the exercise you need.

Giggle I'm going to the store tomorrow for healthy snacks.
But food tastes again, and it really is fantastic.

See, tasting good food should keep you motivated in stopping completly. My dad uses the whole salt shaker just to taste one thing.

My dad had a quad bi-pass at 42 years old. If I don't quit now, I know I'll end
up just like him or my Mom who has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
