    Default Nuwave Oven Pro

Ok, I am a sometime sucker for infomercials.

This morning I woke stupidly early in my hotel room and started channel surfing.

I landed on an informercial for the Newave Oven Pro, a countertop kichen gadget that combines 3 kinds of cooking--direct, convection and infrared--to cook food, including frozen-solid chicken and steak.

I was hooked for the whole, 30-min. show. And, yeah, I woke up hungry and am starving now!

Anyhow, anyone have experience w/ this thing? I am in the mood for a new toy.

Found it on Amazon--my favorite non-tech shopping site--for $165 or thereabouts. Because it's under $200, it falls into my harmless-impulse-buy category. So I'll get it and geek out, chef-wise.

Will do. The informercial said you can bake, as well as cook, in it. So will try that, too. Hope the cakes are better than what came out of my sister's Easy-Bake Oven.

yep, the concept reminded me of easy bake! I dunno, I've never tried it, but it seems like one of those too good to be true deals....

OMG easy bake sucks ass .. you cannot expect a seven-year-old to wait 12-hours for a brownie!! haha,
but yeah, I saw that infomercial too and I watched the whole thing .... but I've always heard that the reason it's 'Not Available In Stores' is because it's not good ... I hope ya prove me wrong cuz it looks fabulous!!

Lola, if I use it 5 times I will be stunned, stunned. The Zen of gadgets is ordering them and owning them, not using them.

Heheh. According to UPS tracking, my oven will be home when I get home from work! I'm going to stick a frozen-solid steak in it and see how it performs. This may call for a picture upload.

Last night I cooked a steak (not a frozen one as I'd planned, however) and some asparagus brushed with olive oil and seasonings.

The steak came out alright, although not seared as it would have been under a broiler. The asparagus were perfect.

The device is completely silent, which is nice, and because the hood is round and transparent the oven becomes something of an object d'art.

I'll fiddle with it more over the weekend. Next up: Whole chicken.
