    Smiley beginning pole tricks??

okay girlies, i finally landed the audition and started working that night . I've gone back twice since then so I've only been doing this a few nights and have immediately noticed that on the busy nights (fri & sat) i definitely need at least some pole tricks to draw more attention to myself. I'm doing pretty well so far I was the top earner my 1st night, 2nd highest earner on friday and the 3rd on saturday (considering i came in at 12 or later thats good i think) but i noticed that the girls above me, esp when we were on the same stage would draw the attention of the guys when they were doing the pole tricks. I 'm just wondering if anyone has any good advice on basic moves I could try for now to look better on stage. I tried to ask the girls at work and watched them but this club is so strong on the hustle and girls are jealous. I mean seriously jealous, my first night one girls jeans got stolen and she had to wear her booty shorts home in the cab! So its a starting club for me and theres not to much help for other dancers available. Does anyone have any help they can give me w/o an acutal demonstration? BTW I have like zero upper body so i know i gotta work on that but im hoping that by at least trying and doing some basic moves i can develop it. Please help!! Thanks in advance, the more descriptive the better.

There are lots of videos on youtube for pole dancing, but your best bet would be to buy yourself a pole for home and get lessons from our very own SW pole junkie...Alena Downs! she is great. Check out her site www.polejunkies.com

Having recently bought a pole for home use I can tell ya right now that pole tricks are way harder than they look. Buying one to practice on at home is strongly recommended. And while you are waiting for your pole to arrive, start doing some push-ups, curls, and whatever its called that you do to work your triceps.

The pole junkies site is great, and Alena has lots of videos on You tube that will blow you away.

And the easiest trick I found to master is the headstand and split. Not easy, but you can at least practice this one against the wall if you dont have a pole at home.

I have helped many a newbie get started on the pole. The trick I have them do first is pretty simple and requires no upper body strength (which is overrated anyways).

I hope you can get this from a verbal description, if not--well I tried, lol.

You stand next to the pole with it on your right if you are right-handed. Lift up your right leg and hook the pole with it so that it is behind your knee, as high up on the pole as you can, at the same time gripping the pole with your right hand for stability. Then you just lean/fall forward and let the momentum spin you around the pole.

Your hooking the pole with your knee will mean the spin around the pole is controlled and can be graceful with a little practice. There's also a way of locking with your other leg that makes the spin last longer, but if you like this trick you'll figure it out.

I have found that different people gravitate towards different pole tricks on their own, which is a good thing. Just relax, try to have fun with it and avoid getting intimidated or frustrated. Nobody does a trick perfectly the first time, so don't expect it from yourself. Have fun with it instead and you will make more progress.

It really helps to remember that it is not vitally important to be proficient on the pole to be a very sexy and successful dancer--some of the very best dancers I have worked with never even touched the damned thing, and didn't have to. I talk up the pole tricks and it does get the guys' attention, but it's not the end-all of strip club success, that's for sure...

This website is cool because the lady will show you the trick first and then break it down. Watch all of the clips starting from the beginning. Plus, if you have any dance experience (talking ballet and classically trained dance here) the she helps by using ballet terms to explain body positions.

She is from Florida......very basic...with basic instruction....sort of good for beginners.

Great for someone who is not willing to pay for classes, as she only has 6-7 moves..and she is off on each and every single name used!

My biggest complaint about this instructor, is that she does not ensure her students use proper body placements for the moves. This causes MAJOR damage to the shoulders and neck....Not MAY...WILL! Extremely bad for any instructor.

I currently have 2 students from her prior classes.

djoser already explained the most basic pole trick, where you hook your leg around the pole and then just spin all the way down until you're on your knees.

if you can learn to climb the pole, it will open up your options because you can spin or do whatever you want on the way down. but that takes a lot of upper arm strength to pull yourself up. it is easier for your legs to "stick" to the pole if you are wearing knee-high or thigh-high boots, so that will give you a better grip. i don't know if your club would allow this, but hairspray on the pole makes it less slippery and much easier to grip too.

do you know how to slide down the pole? when you are dancing and your back is against the pole, just fling one leg up and bend the other one, and you will slide down it into sitting position on the floor with the pole against your back. i think you know what i mean. that is a very sexy move and a good transition into floorwork.

two things i did to practice: i watched the other dancers closely. when they did a fancy move, i would watch what they did with their feet and legs to understand how it's done. i also went to the playground at the park later at night, when nobody was around, and i tried to do tricks on the pole there. it sounds silly, but i was able to try different things and not worry about messing up, so i made a lot of progress!!! i fell in the sand a few times... it was better than falling on stage!

Use Alena!! She is great. I've had 3 lessons and I love every minute of it. You should look into getting a pole at home (if you don't already) and signing up for her classes. I'm not a dancer (Yet) but look forward to the day I start. My body has firmed up a lot, and it's fun!
