    Default "You need a tan."

I just started working at a new and much larger club than where I was working before. At my old club they let girls be what they wanted to be, at my new club it doesn't take long to notice that EVERY single girl is super tan. I am not into tanning too much, except for a sunless tanner that I use 2-3 times a week. But I am perfectly content with my fair skin. My customers also compliment me on my skin tone. So last night I was asked to report to the DJ and he says, "You need a tan." He says that it was managements request. I just said I would work on it, but honestly I am not that happy about them making decisions on my appearance. I don't understand why they want all the girls to have a dark tan, I think giving customers a different variety of girls is better than making us all the same. Anyway, I purchased a tanning package today because so far I do like this club and would hate leave just because I am fair skinned. I wonder if I should speak to mangement about this request...or if I should just get tan and let it go.

Um, no, you absolutely should not risk skin damage because your club told you to and against your own wishes! I've heard this myself before - fuck that. If you must, up the self-tanner darkness or just ignore them. If you're making money that should be all that matters.

That decison is yours and you have to do what makes you feel confident because your additude is what makes you money..not a tan.

But I have to be honest with you..when I started tanning my money really went up..I get LOTS of compliments on my skin tone from guys and even the girls at the club. For some reason much more men seem to prefer a sun kissed girl.

I would speak to management first. Sometimes djs can feel the need to feel as if they were more important. Therefore, they pass on info that they make up and say it's from higher up.

I have two lovely hyper-pigmented areas on my forehead and one on each cheek from tanning. Definately not worth it.

why do they want all the girls to look the same? that's stupid, imo.

i wouldn't want to work at a club where they told me so specifically what i had to look like.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in my life. I know this is an image based business, but from what I see in your picture you're a beautiful girl and don't need to change a damn thing.

And making a club environment to where everyone looks exactly the same makes no sense whatsoever. Guys like variety, and if management can't see that they're just plain stupid and will end up losing business.

I have a light complexion and I'm always getting complimented on my skin. I use Neutrogena sunless tanners or go to a salon and get a Mystic tan occasionally to mix things up, but I refuse to use tanning beds. The chance of getting skin cancer and wrinkles at a young age make it just not worth it to me.

Oh my god girl! In MICHIGAN? I was thinking it was Florida or something! I can't believe two shitty topics in one night--Entertainers' Menu and now this--depressing. =(

I totally agree with the other posters. Do not start risking your skin to premature aging and skin cancer just because a DJ and management said too.
I have a super dark tan when I am at work - this is because I get a spray-on tan and I use a bronzer at work. I do not go to tanning beds, if u are naturally fair going to a tanning bed probably won't change your colour much anyway as it depends on the amount of melanin in your body.

Variety is the spice of life, esp in a strip club.

You should probably do like Jaizaine if you really want to satay at the club and management really wants you to be tanned. Just use a spray on tan instead of going to the tanning bed.

Yea probably Jillian ....look out. But maybe it was just brian. If he bitches I'll leave my sunless tanner on our vanity section so that we can tan up quick.

Thanks for the support and tips ladies! I just bought this stupid package, so I think I'll use it a little bit and mostly get an airbrush.

That is utter crap. Some folks love my "all over tan line"... pft. If you don't want to, and you make money, why should the club care? Ugh.

Thumbs up Re: "You need a tan."

I've always preferred fair skin over the baked-tan look, so you girls have my vote. I think it shows up better in photos, too.

Almost exactly what I was gonna say. I would NOT do it. I use a little self-tanner just so I'm not glow-in-the-dark white, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to tan up for some jerkoff manager

Yeah, first the "entertainer's menu" and now this? I think the fat, smelly, moronic old manager's should leave these sorts of decisions to us. Something tells me hot, sexy young strippers know a little bit more about what it takes to please customers.

Tanning is so bad for your skin. Even if they make a big stink, I'd go somewhere else. Finding a new club is better than wrinkly skin and melanoma when you're 50.

If you're willing to use more self tanner - go for it.

When it comes to skin, I think there are two kinds of white girls:

    1. Girls with average complexions who FRANKLY look better with a little bit of a tan, like me. I look really sallow and almost sick if I don't have at least a little bit of a glow.
    2. Girls with gorgeous, milky white skin - like Dita Von Teese. I think for them to try to tan is a cardinal sin, because you won't tan anyways, and skin that perfect and white is AMAZING. If I was one of these girls, I wouldn't tan and would tell management I only burned.

I like tans on some girls. If I didn't, I know when I got onstage it would look like a haunted house and not a strip club.

If you like your healthy fair skin then keep it. Screw them its your body and your money. I have very fair skin and have thought about tanning a few times when a club might say something but when it comes down to it I am who I am either they like it or they dont.

Gee, I have an idea what club this was. I was told the same thing when I started there. I smiled, nodded, and never bothered getting a tan. I am a natural platinum blond--I don't tan. Even the darkest mystic tan setting is only enough to give me a little color.

Of course, I also left the club because at $120/day, I got tired of being told what to do (sell drinks, mandatory parties, blah blah blah). I make just as much money at other clubs, so if it comes down to my skin vs. the club, my skin would win. You're lovely, so should have no issues going somewhere else if they continue to hassle you about it.

Ignore what was said, do your business, and if someone forces the issue of tanning, tell them that skin cancer runs in your family. In your avatar, you look beautiful. I think a fair complexion suits you.

    I think thats kinda stupid.
I am on medication where im supposed to avoid the sun. I also use self tanners, but you can alway tell they are a tan in a bottle, beacuse the color is never quite right. You dont want to look like a leather hand bag, so dont over do it.

If you really insist on being so tan, at least do it the safe way (myst, airbrush, whatever.) skin cancer is SO not worth it.

Yeah... i worked in a club once where tanning was "mandatory"(the same club I posted in another thread that weighed us in every day. They also judged us before we went on the floor for nails, hair, makeup and attitude...if we werent up to par on any we were yelled at. Um...the nitpicking BS was enough for me to fail the "attitude" one every day..esp since they cared nothing for the drugs or prostitution that was rampant in the club...but I digress)
One girl went fake baking (she was VERY fair skinned..natural redhead) and came back orange. She looked like shit. I told them no. That skin cancer runs in my family and that I was allergic to fake tan stuff(which are both true). I tan now....by choice...but dammed if I was going to be BULLIED into it.They never said anything to me. Then again..i was kind of known for being a bitch and I think management was scared of me...I never got in trouble for anything even though I prob should have since I never did what they told us to do(I told them I'd comply with their BS rules when they complied with the LAW).

    Screw em.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.
