Default Crest White Strips... um, ouch.

So I bought the 2 week box of strips. And them on yesterday, and this morning. Well, this morning the strips kind of burned my upper gums.
Some parts were white while I had them on, and it made bleed a little bit.

Is this normal? I'm going to buy another tooth brush today, the softest one they sell. I have a soft brush already, but there is a "softer" one available.

On the flip side, i've noticed the whitening effect already.

I use them. They can burn your gums a bit I agree, and do have good results. Just don't brush your teeth right before you put them on, it hurts!

You should try to put as much of the strips on your teeth as possible. What I did was apply them just below my gumline...and then after it was time to take them off, I brushed the gel all over my teeth. All of my teeth are really white, so it works that way, as well.

Vyanka, I second sc0101 on not pre-brushing your teeth. And since the whitening agent will dissolve plaque and foam as a paste, I also second VenusGoddess (Hi Girly) on using the remaining product by brushing the gel throughout your teeth (efficiently targeting in between each tooth).

One thing I would like to add is to coat your gumlines with Vaseline. In my opinion, Carmex is even better.

The petroleum, lanolin and wax base in the Carmex forms a sealed barrier protecting your gums from the bleach, just as beauticians employ the technique in the salon around your hairline & nape during a bleach treatment (which is much less sensitive than your gums - I wonder why they don't include something like this in the CW kit, right ?).

You could just use Vaseline, but if you use Carmex, in addition to protecting your gums, you will also reap the benefit of having applied an analgesic to your gums (think Orajel/ Ambesol), which may alleviate some of the pain, swelling and throbbing (menthol, camphor, phenol and alum are some of the active ingredients).

-Just don't smile in the cold.

    Sensitive teeth / gums + mint + cold wind: inhaled = .

-Oh, also, drink warm liquids (broths, chamomille / ginger teas).

    Hope this helps

P.S. I am soo not a Carmex rep; LoL.

BTW Vyanka, que sig mas interesante tienes; LoL

    Thanks girls.

Yeah, I tried as much as possible not to cover the gums and still.

It always gets some of the gel on the inside of my lip and it burns like hell! And my teeth get sensitive later if cold air hits them. Ouch. But..so...white...beauty...knows...no painnn. Hehe.

Yeah, I always put as little of the strip on my gums as possible. I have to use them every other day because they make my whole mouth hurt and/or bleed if I use them every day. The pain is the main reason I am looking into going to the dentist to do a laser treatment, or something else. I'd rather just get it over with and have white teeth than keep using Whitestrips and having my mouth hurt all the time.
