Default earning less to pay out less?

I don't get this! Some girls try not to do the feature unless requested. They don't like to pay the 15$ for it.

I understand, I hate forking out an extra 60$ at the end of the night, but I make a minimum of 60$ doing the features!!! Ya, 4 minutes of dancing for 15$ sucks, but it adds up, and it's better then being on stage doing the loser dance. Think about it, that 120$ can be your whole tip out or a great percentage at least!!!

Unfortunately, this is the smart way to earn more money in the club I'm within at the moment. I really really wish I didn't have to sell lower priced dances however due to how the percentage works (or commission) at this club the math works out in my favour if I stick to selling lower time dances.

    For instance.

A guy books a dancer for an hour - Dancer receives $115 in commission

    A guy books a dancer for an hour via 20 min bookings - 3 x $55 commission = $165

Therefore it is more 'worth it' for the dancer to sell the 20 minute dance and have the customer repeat than it is for him to book the hour up front.

The same goes with a 20 minute dance in and of itself:

One 20 minute dance booking the dancer receives $55
Two 10 minute dance bookings the dancer receives $70 in total ($35 x 2)

Then there is another club I have worked within interstate where I pay out MORE to the club yet receive the same amount of money if I do the VIP room dance over doing the 'normal shared private room' dance.

This is why I tend to do better in Melbourne where I can hustle to my hearts content as I tend to focus on quality (selling fewer higher priced dances) over quanitity (selling heaps of low priced dances).

So I can empathise to a certain extent.

    ^ that is completely different.

you're making a smart money decision, to make more in the same time.

The girls I'm talking about are doing nothing or less to keep their pay out less.

I heard a girl ranting about a guy in the dressing room because he wanted to pay her in funny money (for a VIP that she didn't start yet.) It was the only way he could pay and she told him to forget it. She didn't want to pay the 10%. I tried to explain to her that 90% of something is better than nothing, but she wanted to hear nothing of that...."it's the priniciple! Why couldn't he just go to the ATM like I told him to? Fuck that funny money shit. I won't take it."

Oh, okay....I wish I knew who he was so I could have chased him down.

At my place they take 10% from the credit cards guys use. We get a commissions check every bi-monthly. The money also goes to paying the house and getting extra shows. Extra shows means that it goes towards getting more days on the schedule next month.

If I didn't take the credit cards I would have to pay cash for the house fee which is $70-80. Also, I wouldn't get as many shows and not get as many days to work on the schedule. It would lessen my chances to make money.

I don't understand girls like that unless the payout is higher that the money that is going to be received. Suck it up and do it. Be polite and try to upsell. Might make a regular.

Lola, I know what you mean. Or at least I think I do. I worked at a club for a while that would often run specials. 2 for 1($20) and 3 for $30. The 3 for 30 included merch and the dancer paid out 10. The songs were about a minute long. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that 3 times 1 minute equals a normal song. Girls would flock to the DR. I guess they thought they were going to make more money in there. That was a high hustle club (seattle) and IMO you really have to take what you can get and hope to get lucky with a customer.

in general i agree. but, sometimes, when we do 2 for 1's at my club i'm just not in the mood to run around begging guys to let me give them a deal. not usually, but every once in a while i'm just not feeling.

the thing is that most of the time, it ends up working out better for me when i don't do the 2 for 1 because we have to dance on stage if we're not dancing for a customer during the special and i will often make close to, as much as or more on stage than i would have in the back. plus i usually have a guy waiting for me once the special is done and ready to buy a full price dance...which usually turns into at least 3 or 4.

so....while it is wiser, in theory, to just suck it up and do the special, it can pay off to not do it. but there's a lot more luck involved i suppose...

Wow, some girls are really stupid. I like what Bridgette said in another post - no matter how much money you've made, you should always be trying to make MORE.

that's different. Some nights, I'd rather be on stage, b/c I know I'll make lots in tips, but more often then not, it doesn't work like that....

I think it needs to be evaluated on a situation by situation basis...

I have never understood these girls, and I never will. They don't understand that even though 10% of the money is going to be taken, they are still making money. Normally they are the lazier girls in the club, at least in my experience.

I agree with the funny money thing! Stupid... I worked in a club that charged us 25% for funny money, and that club (smart for them bad for us) didn't have an ATM.... so custies would HAVE to get funny money for basically every VIP, as they started at 200 dollars. Girls would try to convince their custies to walk to Crowbar (a giant nightclub) next door and use the ATM so that they could get the cash... then they would be confused as to why the guys never showed up, and they'd waste an hour waiting, in denial, for them to come back.

I'd rather make 300 dollars off 400 dollar VIP than take my chances on the floor, where it's not so easy to make 300 dollars in an hour....geese!!

    uhhh.

seriously, there needs to be some kind of equivelency test to dance. like a 2nd grade final

Cut your nose to spite your face!!!

^^^ I know that my manager would pitch a fit if girls turned down perfectly good vips or even told custys about our 10% charge.... managers are so stupid. by hiring these inept dancers, they're dipping into their own pockets....

The girls that walk around get drunk, start side conversations, and work as little as possible to pay out as little as possible are a side show at best. I wish we had more of them in the club. It does nothing but add to my allure. It's like walking around parked cars. These girls will never be a threat. They don't work and most of them are either negative or too drunk out of their minds to get in my way. Great!

At times I feel sorry for these girls and wonder why they even come to work at all, but it's a tough business and a tough life as a dancer -- people deal with it in different ways. It's less competition for me, I can't be mad at that.
