Inspired by britt's thread announcing that the smoking ban is coming to Baltimore....I know there are other threads that have touched on this, but most of them are older, and I just wanted to pose the question in general:
Those of you that work in clubs where there's a smoking ban...what happened to business immediately following the ban? What about several months later? A year later? Did things drop off at first but then pick back up? Did business actually increase? (I know a lot of regular bars in other cities have seen business pick up after the ban, but something has me worried that SC's will be different) Do you find it harder to keep custies in the club for long periods of time since they'd have to go outside to smoke? Is it harder to hustle after the ban?
If the general consensus is that things died down for a month or two, but then came back to life as people got used to it...maybe I'll try and schedule my rhino date for right after the ban takes effect. I'd planned on doing it in Jan when things are always slow anyway, but...might as well recover while things are dead due to the ban in Oct.
And at least this gives me one hell of a powerful motivator to get my ass into work as much as I possibly can and bank as much $$ as I possibly can until the ban comes. Then at least I'll hve some savings if things get awful afterward.
I'm expecting the worst and flipping out right now. What did the smoking ban do to your club?
