Default the boulder vs. the strip club

i left for work today as usual.
as soon as i got to the area of the club i noticed a firetruck and that the area around the club had been gated off. one of the bouncers was out there and told me that a rockslide/mudslide had occurred at around 4 a.m. that morning. the club is set at the bottom of a hill in san francisco. the downpour of rain over the past week caused the soil to become loose and slippery, setting off the rocks that came rolling into the manager's office, one of them as large as a car, punching a hole in the wall.

when the manager showed up i joked to him, "i never thought of showgirls as a hole in the wall until now." apparently it will take weeks to clean up and make safe again. ugh...until then i have to find a temporary club to work at

you can read an article about it here: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...2/28/SLIDE.TMP

That is SOOO bizzare. 75-foot wide chunk of Telegraph hill, just sliding away. WOW.

I don't wanna make light of it, bc yr out of work now, but that's really freakin funny about the actual hole in the actual wall. Maybe they can plasterize it and make it touristy and fun. Eh, nevermind.

Some ppl call those wacky weather things "Acts of God."

What would a Jehovah's Witness say?

Man. I'm really sorry about all the residents there. Did it affect where you live? If you take any pictures, will you show us?

nah, i live 17 miles away from san francisco. no effect here. i asked the manager what to do and he suggested a couple of clubs. i instead begged him to get the manager at his old club to hire me temporarily. i'll see how that goes tomorrow. i'm just so glad that i banked last week and saved most of what i earned.

i was also joking around with the bouncers that the religious right would have a ball with the rockslide incident hitting the strip club.

actually, since california is so geologically active with earthquakes, mudslides, rockslides and fires i'm not surprised this happened at all. it's a part of life here.

Yeah we get mudslides in LA - especially the Hollywood Hills. When I first moved here a few years ago, a friend was staying in a hostel and the whole parking lot was turned into a mud pit. It was right after that Tsunami hit - it effected the weather big time and the rain didn't stop for weeks.
Whole multi-million dollar houses were sliding off the map. It was insane. And I guess you can't insure against these things either. It just convinced me to never build or buy a house on a hill!

I'm glad no one was hurt - could you imagine if this happened during business hours?

If God wanted to smite someone, the slide would have taken out the whole building. I think it's probably just a divine suggestion to make a few adjustments to the lighting rig and get some comfy-er chairs. Everyone could use comfy-er chairs.

for me it's turned out okay. the manager was able to pull a few strings to get me on the day shift at the other upscale club across town.

according to the san francisco chronicle it will be about 3 weeks before all of the rock rubble is cleared away. telegraph hill has been the subject of slides ever since people started quarrying it in the 1860s, blasting it away to build a seawall for the embarcadero.

messing with nature seems to always whup your ass later on.
