Default Cheap version of Aveda shampoos/conditioners?

I love the smell of Aveda, and the reconstructing shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair is what my stylist recommended post hair relaxer...but they are so damn expensive. Anyone have a recommendation for a cheaper knock off?

I love my hair. Every time I look in the mirror, I am like straight hair rocks! Now I am researching fun haircuts.

They are expensive, but that conditioner makes fried, processed hair feel human again. It's also really rich, so it doesn't take much.

You must, must try Aubrey Organics. Their conditioners are on point! It is the cheapest version of Aveda like products. Their ingredients are all natural, and their honeysuckle rose conditioner is SO MOIST. I also like the camellia as well. You can't go wrong with their products! I also like Kenra Conditioner.... talk about SUPER thick, rich and moisturizing *drool* but it's certainly not all natural...but I love to keep this in my rotation.

But I can relate to needing to keep moisture in processed hair! I LOVE LOVE Aubrey Organics, sometimes I mix it with Thai Kitchen coconut milk, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and keep it on for at least an hour. It always results in buttery soft hair!! I haven't relaxed my hair in nine weeks because I've found the right products to extend the health of my hair beyond the relaxer. I can help you find the right poducts as well. Tell me more about your hair, and the state it's in now. I love to help people find the right products for their hair.... Give me a detailed description.

If the above doesn't work, you may have to break down and keep with Aveda. When something works that good, it's worth the extra $$.

Sally Beauty Supply has aveda generic products... i believe u can find them for around 3 or 4 dollars a product.. they have tons of other knockoffs...the ingrediants are basically the same... that would be your best bet!!!!!

Can you help me out? ^ I have long, colored, dry hair that tangles easily. I used a Wella deep conditioner in a jar, InDepth, I like Pantene spray leave in for detangling, but I always need more product ideas for leave-ins, detanglers, & deep conditioners. I do love the Aveda deep conditioner, but as my beutician said, it needs to be alternated w/a rich moisturizing one, b/c the protein dries the hair after continuous use.

Even though the Aveda works well for her, I can relate to her need for looking for cheaper alternatives. Their is hope, I've always found products with similar results eventually, but it will be a process of trial and error.

See, we have to break it down one problem at a time, lol to get good results, and alot of it will take trial and error, but pm me so I won't jack this thread. I have alot of things in mind already!

See, the thing about the knockoffs are that they are the old ingredients. Most of Sally knockoffs are the replica of lets say Paul Mitchell products circa 1999, it say's so on the back. If she likes the current ingredients, she will have to take the bottle with her to the sallys so she can make sure it's current. The ingredient list that they give for comparison can be either really old or on point.

i'm a firm beleiver that you get what you pay for. although, some generic products are as good as the regular, but hair conditioner is not one of them, imo.

lol, ladies, ladies, the girl is clearly asking for a product that may possibly mimic the results of Aveda. I've used the line before, and trust me nothing is set in stone. It will just take a lil trial and error, but their ARE other options out there. My kohl eyeliner from CVS glides just as creamy as my expensive ones. Toss the girl a bone

Sunnie you may want to keep some of the Aveda conditioner around. I have Aveda and it's Awesome, but what I do to curb the cost is purchase similar products so I rotate the products with every wash. Aubrey organics products are creamy, moisturizing, paraben free, and yummy. They are affordable, so I will use them more often, and use the Aveda when I need an overhaul. So you may want to use the Aveda at the end of the week, and rotate the more affordable ones into the routine between treatments.

When using high end salon products, the benefits should last a couple of washes anyway, so definately try to flex in a good moisturizer. Kenra is excellent as well, it increases elasticity and my hair was so moist that once it dried I still thought it was wet!! Yep, good stuff. I also Love, love, love Neutrogena triple moisture line, girl their leave in is awesome! Another thing to keep in mind is to clarify if the products you use have "cones" in them.

For example, I LOVE Paul Mitchells Super Skinny Conditioner, but the cones that are in the conditioner meant to make the hair pliable, silky, and smooth can leave product build up. That's the sticky, heavy feeling that you may feel when using a product loaded with "cones". You would be surprised how well your hair will respond to certain conditioners after clarifying.

I use half a can of the Thai Kitchen Coconut milk, and three tablespoons of EVOO, I usually mix this with my fav conditioner of the night ( yeah, I have a problem). My Favorite homemade recipie is better than ANY conditioner that I've tried. I mix an entire Hass avocado, half a cup of EVOO, and a whole egg. Talk about strong hair!! My strands always feel strong and moisturized with this combo. It has the perfect balance of protein and moisture. But yeah, the coconut milk is excellent for moisture as well. I use it at least three times a week.

Oh yeah, I can attest that my recommendation will be suitable for every hair type, one of my girlfriends uses it all the time and she doesn't have "coarse" hair if you catch my drift.

it doesn't come up as often as some others, but my aveda color shampoo is about 50% cheaper on ebay. i can't tell the difference if it isn't the real deal.

    Layka, what are "cones"???

In my experience, nothing beats Aveda. I buy the huge bottles, and they last a really long time....It still isn't cheap, but it's not as bad as buying the small bottles.

Cones are a nickname for anything ending in cone. Ie; dimethicone and such. Their are plenty of "cones" in products that almost always can lead to buildup.

I have been using your Thai Coconut Milk (only a couple spoonfuls)/EVOO/Aubrey Organics Rose conditioner mixture and it's amazing. I leave it on anywhere from a few hours to overnight, and follow it with either Aveda conditioner or Neutrogena hair mask.
