Default customer wants to give me a massage

I have a customer who is not my regular as per se, but a regular customer of the club who buys dances from me almost any time he is in. He's very nice, comes in on 2-4-1 days and pays me full price for dances. This has definitely endeared him to me.

He went to massage school a few years ago and likes to give me massages when I sit with him. Recently, he's been offering to give me a free massage OTC, at his house. For obvious reasons, I don't want to do this. In general, I feel like he's a nice guy and I'd be pretty safe with him, but you never know and I'm not one to take risks. I also don't want him to get the idea that we're "friends" and stop buying dances from me. But I'm not sure how to turn him down. We have a really friendly rapport, and I'd hate to change that by implying that I'm afraid to meet him OTC because he might be a psycho.

    Anyone have any brilliant suggestions?

I was in the same situation a few months ago...I ended up telling him something along the lines of, "I'd like to, but you know I'd get in trouble if word got around to management that I was arranging to meet someone outside. Thanks for the offer though, you're so sweet! *hug*)

It worked for me--he actually said "ok then, how about I give you one upstairs (in VIP)?" And he still comes in and gets a few dances from me now and then.

Hmm. That's a tough one. You always seem to be a good judge of character, however, as a massage therapist (I'm talking straight-up therapeutic, just to be crystal clear) myself, I really think it's just easier to keep the two worlds as separate as possible. I NEVER even mention what my day job is at the club, because I don't want to give the customers the wrong idea. I'd never take a customer as a massage client, and certainly never vice versa.

It may be different on the receiving end, though, I'm just saying that there is STILL such confusion sometimes, even in this day & age, about what therapeutic massage is and is not that I just think that keeping the boundaries iron-clad is the simplest way.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, and you'd know better than I, and his intentions may be totally honorable, but I personally would play it safe. Honestly? Completely my own opinion? If he really went to a legit school, I'm a TINY bit suspicious that he would offer, given that schools get HEAVILY into ethical issues and are always extremely conservative about this kind of thing.

Any generic stripper excuse will do. For example:

I've been burned by this kind of thing before.
    I will get in trouble.
    I don't have the time.
I will try when I can....

I mean, to do OTC is one thing, but to do OTC for no money. Does he think he's THAT good?!

I have a guy that like to give me massages OTC. Legit, non-pervy ones (even though he's not a professional.)

And I charge him $300 per 60-90 min massage. You could go that route if you trust him.

Ew, yucky yuck. Just say "no." It's not different than any other customer asking you to meet outside the club. Repeat after me "These nasty massage bastards are not my friends." Seriously, I get the sense that you're worried if you decline that the money will dry up or they'll reject you as a friend and take away your place to recharge. Just accept that one day it will be gone, and enjoy the ride meanwhile. You totally don't need me to tell you this!! Now go back to work as the suave red-headed firecracker we've all learned to love : )

Oh, I forgot to add. You can just slam a fork in his leg next time he asks..... I promise, he'll never ask again.

By the way, T., I want to emphasize that this is NOT the Massage Troll who sits by the back wall every night with his full range of massage accessories and lotions. That guy creeps me out and I personally think the girls who get "topless massages" from him are getting scammed.

This is a different and really rather pleasant guy who just rubs my neck and hands while I am *fully*clothed. But yeah, it's not so much that I'm worried about upsetting our "friendship" as that I want him to keep buying dances, or at least stay on civil terms with me. He's in the club a lot, and I don't want to have to avoid him. You know how it goes.

I doubt he would agree to pay me for the privilege of massaging me. I get the impression he thinks he's doing something nice to offer his services to me for free. Oh, well. Ya'll are right. It's the same old "custy want to go OTC" thing again, and any of the normal rules apply.

    Oh, HELL no!

You might arrive at his house to find the massage table set up in the basement...& You'll have to "put the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose."*

(Seriously though, it will not end well. That's a fact, jack!)

Tell him what I tell every guy who offers to rub my shoulders in the club: "I'm super loyal to my massage therapist and don't want to interfere with the incredible work s/he does. I know you understand!"

I like this idea best. You never know and its a nice way to let him down.

:: Was it that obvious my first thought was the nasty massage guys? Ha, I'm glad it isn't, though I was pretty sure it wasn't anyways.

Sorry but if his mind told him it was alright to ask a young women to come to his/her place with no witnesses for a message. His mind is crazy but he may still be a nice guy.

I second this. Say that you already have a fantastic massage therapist that you've been seeing for years.

i think i just threw up in my mouth.... ooops wait hold on *runs to toilet*

massage troll aside, this custy is pretending he actually has something to offer you so you'll go to his place. HELLO- SCAM!

legit massage therapists should not, will not, and do not cross these boundaries unless they are problem people regardless of job or customer status. don't go there, girl. the fact that you had to post about it should tell you already. your gut said - uh-uh, no way.

From perusing this thread, I get the impression that you consider this guy a friend but not somebody you want to be involved with OTC. Thus, the best answer might be something along the lines of "We have a great thing going here at this club -- let's keep it professional so we don't screw it up, okay?" By phrasing things that way, you remind him of the line he is crossing and that he wants you to cross without giving him the impression that you dislike him. Does anyone else think that might work?

Grace, with your experience and insight, I am amazed that you would even wonder about this. Suppose 99 out of a hundred guys are perfectly safe, and you get that one unsafe guy on the first OTC visit? Just tell him you can't do that--that it is unethical, or that you might lose your job, or that the cops might follow you and arrest you (and him) for prostitution, or whatever excuse you can, but DON'T GO TO HIS PLACE!!!!!!

If this ruins your easy-going relationship, you know that he was not a safe guy anyway.

A good way for dancers to remember there are no "friends" in the club is the children's book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie..." The plot of this little book is that the mouse keeps asking for more stuff, the more you give to him. He's never satisfied!

IMO these guys are WORSE than the random a-hole trying to finger you..These "friend" guys use your generosity & kindness to sh*t on it.

that's why you have to charge him for any and all OTC dates, and of course, use your good judgement. Don't do this for everyone who offers to pay. But if you're going to have dinner, massage, casino trips, etc....he must pay.

Come on, guys. You know I have no intention of going to his place for a massage. I'm not asking whether or not I should go -- I'm asking how to weasel out of it without losing a pretty decent customer.

So far I like the "let's keep this in the club" approach. If he gets pissy and won't hang out anymore, so be it.

I'm sorry if we ran with your situation. What I think is going to happen is that he won't spend money on you anymore once you've rejected his advance. To him it's "real", to you it's not...

He's definitely using this excuse to get in your pants, he thinks he's being clever and has game because he's not using the same old line of "I'd rather take you to dinner". Make no mistake, any man that offers anything like that has one goal in mind and that's to have sex with you, regardless of how nice he is or how much of a "friend" he is. Just say to him you appreciate his offer, however you can't risk getting in trouble at work so how about right here in the private booth. If he gets mad then f$ck him.
