Never used them, wanna try them.
What do I need to know? Tips/tricks?
And what kind should I get?
Thanks in advance!

I like the Caruso ones. They are the BEST imo. If you aren't into those, try the big ones, like 1.5 in. The smaller ones just cause frizz. I love my ionic ones that are covered in this velvety stuff. Make sure the set you buy isn't one of those sets that has 3 different sizes. There isn't enough of any size to do your hair.
For technique I either roll everything vertically and away from my face (sometimes do the front and sides towards face), or everthing horizontally and under. Both of these are nice looks, just experiment and you will find what you are looking for. Lastly, make sure you let the rollers cool off completely before removing or your curls will fall flat pretty quickly.
Hope this Helps!

the only thing that bugged me about every hot roller set i had was that my fingers got burned putting them in. even the ones who were "cool touch" were hot a s hell....made it hard to put in correctly
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.
I use a setting spray from Joico. You are going to need to use a lot of product if you have long hair.
I leave them in for a min of 1.5 hours, so they have time to cool off completely. This is the key. Let them totally cool off before you take them out.
Your hair should be bone-dry to start with.
Actually, my new routine is to put the rollers in, put a hair net on top, do my makeup, drive into work and enter back door with rollers still in, and take them out right before I hit the floor.
And meanwhile ther girls are wasting an hour with their big-barrel curling irons to get the same look... and mine lasts longer than theirs!!
My system works really well. And i have a lot of hair (with extensions).
Just make sure you use a lot of product (before you roll them in, and then a hair-spray after you take them out. The hair will not feel sticky or anything. And curls will hold.
I don't particularly like them, unless your hair is long and heavy enough to where you get a loose, sexy curl (think victoria's secret) vs. a tight 80's curl. I think the VS look is really sexy - try leaving the ends out to get a looser curl. That's what I do with a large barrel curling iron to get that look.

holy hell! if i did that for that long i'd look like shirley temple! lol
i leave mine in for at most 45 minutes...then i have to "pull" some of the curles cause their so tight (that's even with the big barrels!)
i do use the ones with three diff sizes..i put the differing sizes all over my head.
also, don't roll them from the ends to the roots, start with a strip of hair, about mid way down and wrap the bottom half around, then roll up to the root...makes it so your not super curly on the ends with flat at the top.
i also spray with a "soft" hairspray before each roll
just experiment
