    Default Reality Check

Lots of threads recently describe downsides and craziness -- dead clubs, regulars going postal, gross customers, bitchy/dishonest dancers. Sometimes I feel like I must walk around in a bubble -- when I go to a club I usually plan to spend a few hundred and have fun, and I usually wind up spending a few hundred and having fun. Dancers usually are decent and honest, barmaids and bartenders are pleasant, security usually unobtrusive.

Is this the dancers' experience as well? Is 95% of the activity pretty OK, and just the occasional craziness that (properly) is a focus here? Or is the picture we get in these threads more accurate?

I think what you see here is the 5%. People both men and woman alike venting their frustrations about this club or that custy, or that dancer. Im with you, when I go out to a SC I usually have a great time and spend every dime I have LOL. I say read what the women are writing about these assholes they have to deal with, and then remeber the next time you go to the club to not be one of them!

I want to ad that when you go to the club you are only there part of the time where as a dancer is there alot and she might be having a great time with you and makeing money and when she gets up and goes the next table she is dealing with mr asshole or mrs no panties. You would not understand unless you were on the other side.

you have a good experience at the strip club because you spend a decent amount of money, and that makes both you and the dancer happy! that is why you don't see any of these problems. you are a good customer and are treated as such.

guys who sit around and drink the same beer for an hour and spend nothing is what pisses dancers off. or there are guys who just wanna get laid and try to pick up dancers to go home with, or persuade them into doing sexual favors in the VIP. most of these guys aren't even willing to spend money, they just go there to hassle us and waste our time. when the club is dead and there's more dancers than customers, it is terrible because we make our living off lapdances and we go home with NOTHING if we don't do dances. the job can be extremely frustrating and not even that rewarding sometimes. but like i said, you are a paying customer and i assume you act like a gentleman, so of course you would have a very fun time!

It also depends to a large extent what kind of club you are going to.

My last club, for instance, was a fucking circus. There were no rules there, none--which made it a fascinating place to work, but a brutal club for the dancers. Everything bad you have heard about how rough it can be for the women was way worse there.

In general, the higher the contact level, the harder it is on the women, too.

Even in the nicer clubs, though, there are always a lot of rude assholes over the course of a given night. They might be in the minority, but sometimes it only takes one colossal jerkoff to ruin a woman's night.

I really enjoy work. Most of the time I don't have any problems. I have just as much fun as you (especially when I'm making lots of money!) I know that for myself, I post on here when I'm venting or I have a question about something...like my disgruntled regular post. But that's just because I can't talk to friends, etc. about everything since they don't understand the business. So yeah, I think your impression might be skewed. A lot of girls come here to vent. Naturally.

I always say that the vast majority of customers and strippers aren't like those who post here OR what we talk about here. But as we've said here many times before, we don't come here to sigh happily about the 10 nice/normal dudes we danced for with no issue; we (partially) come here to rant about the few assholes (this is often the best outlet) and get ideas on how to deal with them.

I like to write NATOs on blue, but I don't write many because most nights just aren't noteworthy. Most nights, custies are normal, I make my money and there's no problem or anything spectacular going on.

Some people pay more attention to what's going on in the club than others...& Sometimes just dumb luck keeps you out of trouble. There's plenty that people DON'T talk about because it's embarrassing or they fear repercussions....

I'm sure that upscale clubs have less crazy drama going on, but the trade off is a high stage fee & repressive work environment.

Forums are like the news. It is all about the extremes. 95% is business as usual. Guy comes in with money and tries to cum. Girl walks out with money trying not to get cum on her. Nothing really to write about. The 5% is the entertaining part for forums.

People who ask me about my job are always surprised when I say that most of the men who come to the club are nice and act like gentleman - but this is the truth.

I would estimate about 95% treat me respectfully (way more so than my customers did when I worked retail), do not cross the boundaries and are decent.

Those I guess do not make for interesting posts.

Although check my recent thread - where I made a post about a really cool customer.

For people not working in the bar biz, it's your funtime place...For people who work in the biz, we start to see "the same situations with different faces" in most SCs.....I know some people here don't want me to be dour but THIS is why we gripe & try to look out for eachother on Stripperweb.

Most days in the SC are just like most days at any other job--you have a routine with little variation. It's the out-of-the-norm or the egregiously offensive/irritating/painful experiences that make it here on the board.

They're not all Lorena Bobbitt's in hiding, folks. Well, maybe MM is.

Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

This is pretty much as expected. (And I certainly never expect to see a post from Bridgette where she "sighs happily" . . . .)

The reason for the thread was that I almost feel guilty having a good time when I am in a club, having read here about all the nasty stuff that goes on that I don't see. So its reassuring that a good chunk of the job isn't as bad as the worst cases posted.

Maybe it's worth noting -- clubs really are remarkable: where else can you walk in on the spur of the moment, have an exciting time with complete strangers in a safe place, and walk out with everybody happy about it? I don't know of anything else like it.

Dont feel guilty having a good time. Just be a nice customer and you and the dancer will both enjoy it.

AGREED! Talking to friends not in the biz is impossible. It usually prompts the horrified and appalled" look. Which is so not helpful when you just want to vent about your day.
I'm all for propriety and decency, after all, profanity is just the linguistic crutch of pathetic motherfuckers.

Ive been bartending for 15 years now. Althought I can tell my stories and vent my frustrations to anyone, its much more satisfying and eadier to vent with people who know what it's like from my side. Often that makes the venting easier, because I dont have to preface it with explainations non-barstaff people usually need to place my venting in proper contex.

That said, if bartending was a living hell where few people have any sort of good days, I wouldnt have stuck at it for lo these 15+ years.

I would hazard a guess that the same is for dancers.
