omg I've gotten so many of these .. the very first one was years ago and it totally freaked me out .. I was like, I've got relatives in AFRICA?! huh, you don't say. And they want to give me their inheritance randomly out of nowhere .... interesting ...

But then after repeatedly being fed this bullshit email I figured out what was up .. it's so weird..

^that's really sad I'm sorry to hear that. Someone close to me almost fell for it too. She met some guy on match.com with obviously fake photos (magazines *eyeroll*) Anyhow she really thought he was sincere! He fed her some story how he was a model from some scandanavian country but working in nigeria and sent her a bunch of money orders. She was totally ready to cash them against her bank account and send him the money!!!! I basically begged her that if she was insistant upon cashing them to at least cash them at the post office. We had a nice long talk with the post master.

What a wonderful man Mr. Musa is! I mean, how can you not like a guy who supports Motherless Babies homes!

Cally, have a look at this site. It has lots of suggestions for stringing these guys along, if you're interested, as well has very funny stories of some of the scam-baiters' actions.

I got one from "Hong Kong" a few weeks back. Apparently some Iraqi General died during the last invasion and left a ton of money without any next of kin.

And, of course, I had the opportunity to be filed as his heir and get the money. All I had to do was give the "bank" all of my sensitive information.

    *headdesk*

Can't they come up with better stories? Or at least use convincing grammar?

I worked with a dancer who "won" the South African lotto. She had the money orders and everything, and was proclaiming that day as her last one on the job and she'd be back to throw mad cash at all the girls on stage because she was sooooo rich now.

The other girls warned her that it was a scam. She was disappointed, but at least all she lost was face.

I like the ones from the UK telling you that you have won their national lottery. Get one of those fuckers just about every day. The Nigerian ones seemed to have dropped off recently.

You guys really don't want them once you start they don't stop. They just keep coming and coming and coming. I email them back telling them to fuck off and die but they just keep coming!

Another reason why Australian banking is so awesome... even if we fell for that.. nobody can take your money out of your bank account with those details here - they can only deposit.
