Default Keeping in Shape - Help, I've gained 7 pounds!

I had to take a hiatus from stripping to work a 9 - 5 temporary office job (it pays well, has great benefits, and is what I got my bachelor's in, so I enjoy doing it). I am also still working with my patients in the evenings (I went back to school for a career in health care, which I also love) ... so there has been no time to exercise even. I try to stay motivated, but it is so hard when I work a 12 hour day at my two jobs to come home and wanna do anything active. i'm keeping my skills up by taking some pole dancing classes on the weekends - but they are not really enough to burn off the pounds (which I have been piling on).

My job ends in April, and I'd like to be ready to get back to dancing by May. Can anyone suggest some ways to stay in shape when time is limitted and therefore the exercise really needs to cut to the chase? I'm trying to limit my foods - but I got so used to eating whatever I wanted when I was exercising and dancing all the time, that my discipline is lacking.

    Thanks

Start slowly with dieting. Limit the types of foods you eat before you limit portions. This is what i did and though weight loss has been slow, it hasn't been too much of a struggle. This approach also enabled me to adjust to a healthy diet and being used to the discipline of eating junk food only very rarely, it was not too difficult to then limit portions later on. You could also buy the Shangri La diet on Amazon, which is basically a routine of natural supplements (olive oil and/or sugar water), which has worked quite well for me in terms of limiting my appetite.

Lean pockets are the shiznet!! They are easy to make instead of going to fast food or w/e and they taste yummy (to me.) I'm sure you've heard all this before but can you like take the stairs every single time, cut out elevators. On your lunch break go for a 30 minute walk. A 30 minute walk a day can really do wonders. My neighbor used to add in an extra 30 minute dog walk in the morning and she lost about 20 lbs in a few months.

What kind of stuff do you eat? I've noticed that when I'm craving something bad..like potato chips, it's only because I'm craving something crunchy. So then I'll eat raw veggies. Now I crave raw veggies and fruit.

^^Great suggestion. When I first started trying to loose some weight before I started dancing again I started with my diet too.

Once you've got your diet down then add cardio. I started with 3 days a week for 30min. Then upped it to 4-5 days a week doing 45min. Then added weight training last.

Its just a shock to your body going from eating whatever you want to "restrictions" - which isnt really that your body just feels deprived from all the junk food.
A few suggestions for someone that has no time to get to a gym. You can jump rope, take a walk, do an exercise video.

    1. Activia yogurt (Helps with digestion and nutritional assimilation).
    2. Incorporate fruits and vegetables as snacks (5 a day should be the goal).
    3. Replace white flour products with wheat flour products and white rice with brown.
    4. Try Grape Nuts cereal with raisins / bananas / berries (< good for your brain) in a bowl. Adding milk will help fulfill your calcium intake but you can also have it dry like trail mix, with fruits.
    5. Ban soda / juice from your diet! The sugar in soda and juice drinks converts into fat in your body .
    6. Strictly limit sugar (^ see above).
    7. Drink lots of water. One way that the human body signals dehydration is a stomach cramp, due to concentrated hydrochloric acidic. Sometimes hunger pains are the body's expression of thirst. This balance of acidic HCl is neutralized by water, thus reducing the chances that you will overeat due to stomach cramps.

Desk jobs can be awful for triggering weight gain.

I agree on the suggestion for Activia. It's good stuff!

Also, bagged salads with leafy dark greens are great too. Just don't drown them in creamy or oily dressing.
