Default I'm Teaching my first Stripperobics tonight!

I have three students confirmed. I'm happy to be doing this, as I think it is totally fun to dance in the stripper fashion, and can make exercise seem effortless.

But...I have a horrible cold. I know I can do the 45 minute class just fine, but I'm really worried about my voice and the impression I'm going to make on the students and the dance studio owner.

I hope everyone likes the moves I'm teaching. I'm worried about being "too sexy" in the class, too. I plan on wearing something that looks semi-strippery (tight spaghetti strap tank top, booty shorts, fishnet thigh-highs and stripper boots). I think the students expect this, and I believe the extreme high heels adds to the workout like a step in a step aerobics class or the rubber tubing in other kinds of exercise classes.

I also have a DJ lighting kit that I'm going to use to re-create the look of a strip club atmosphere. I want the ladies to feel beautiful, and the lighting goes a long way to hiding flaws (you can't beat black light for hiding bruises and stretch marks).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to "props" that might be useful in this class? I'm already bringing folding chairs and yoga mats. I was wondering if elbow length gloves or feather boas is going too far? The students that have confirmed for the class are interested in dancing for their boyfriends/husbands, but I don't want to put off the women that are there for the exercise, either.

*oh, as a side note, this class is open to women ONLY.

I don't think you need props -- most of the time we aren't using them, you know?

Dammit! I bet you we all have the same cold -- I have been miserable all week.

    Awesome!

I would sooo love to do this myself. Hope it goes well sweetie! Let us know how it went.

Hot2Trot Tip: Try drinking a spoonful of hot sauce (I like Frank's Red Hot- it's kinda salty, yum). It will clear up your sinuses and give you a temporary caffeine-like pick-me-up . Try swishing it to the back of your tongue, avoiding the tip and sides of your tongue, as the tip and sides contain the most heat receptors.

You can also steep some ginger tea for your bronchials.

    Get better soon!

-Wrist straps for the strictly athletic (?)
-Satin ribbons to highlight arm movement as part of the class instruction (since we have all seen our share of scarecrow-stiff armed dancers; LoL )
    -Chokers.

I don't think that your choices are "going too far," since both are indeed to be synonymous with the stripping theme. They could choose to wear it or not. They are, after all, in a pole dancing class.

Besides, it is your class, correct? It will be your personality that sells the class and gets you referrals. So be yourself and put your best foot forward. You will do fine.

Perhaps you can throw the question out there and get feedback by encouraging them to come up with their own ideas, from which you can build on? The feedback of your first class can help you to further develop your class structure and cirriculum, since each person has their own level of openness.

    Congratulations again .

True, but they can be fun, non? Especially for the housewife / curious type since for them it would be part of discovering their sexuality, playing the sexy "Fantasy role" of an exotic dancer and mostly, overcoming taboos and stigmas which the props are representative of.

Damn, we all got sick I've been down with this cold for three days now and I'm hating it.

Paris I'm so glad you're teaching classes! You are perfect for it! You have the energy and attitude and your student will love it!

Maybe a short lap dance tutorial if they are mainly there to "please their man".

I'm sure you'll be great, I'd not mention the cold at all, except maybe a quick disclaimer if your voice is sounding shot.

I know, how weird that we all came down with it at the same time.

Do let us know how it goes Paris.

Those props are a little too burlesque and theatrical... save it for a Burlesque class. Stick to props that can be easily acquired and won't cost the 'average' woman a fortune to have and/or use..... tell them to come wearing 2 or 3 layers of clothing as well because you are going to have them strip since it is about stripping.

Anyway, update us all! I want to know how it all goes.

BTW, how did you get started with all this ?? Did you just go to a dance studio and/or gyms to see if they would allow you to hire out their dance space for the class and then go from there???

I'm totally wanting to teach burlesque, hooping and strip-tease (plus some instruction on lap dancing) for fun and profit (for 'everyday' women and those who do it for a living).

    I'm fighting a cold too

Paris, I think your ideas sound great, I wish we had classes like that by me!!!

I think it's a good idea to make sure they have fun, and ask for feedback. Also, it's nice if they feel the workout a little.

Did we all catch something in the lounge?

Do we need to call the fumigators?

Best wishes Paris, sounds like it'll be fun!!

Nope, they are all fine. I'm guessing that it must have been one of the hot seat guys. Maybe Jimmy...

^^You're so silly...Do you do transvestite strip-o-grams?? I get requests on a weekly basis.

I had two whole students show up. Both ladies were wonderful. I started coughing and it was obvious that I had a cold, so no hiding it. I have a bigger ad planned for the paper this week. I'm feeling more confident that I'm not going to kill anyone by asking them to do advanced difficult moves.

It took me a bit to figure out how to use the sound system. Once I got my ipod hooked up it was fine. I really do like the dance aspect of being a stripper, and having a studio at my disposal is extremely helpful in fleshing out some ideas I've had. Any ladies on stripperweb are welcome to join me on Sunday evenings.
