    Default CCV proposed laws in Ohio-Scary

    Looks like the fascist theocrat group Citizens For Community Values (CCV) aka Phil Burress is at it again trying to legislate their unique moral views upon the rest of us. Terrible that any court would uphold this proposed legislation based upon the "perceived negative secondary effects" that stripclubs allegedly have. You typically have more police runs at your local convienent stores than stripclubs, so CLEARLY this is JUST a MORAL argument...

    I HATE, HATE, HATE when people with political agendas such as this say they have to "save the family," or "save the children." They say strip clubs "destroy" the family. Last time I checked, bouncers weren't allowing children into the club and bartenders weren't serving them tequila shots. There's no rationalizing with them. *Sigh.* I understand that such slogans are powerful tools of propoganda, but for crying out loud....they should go build homes with Habitat for Humanity if they really want to help.

    Ok, I've gotta ride the fence on this one. Moral - schmoral, I agree its a power issue. But, on the same note, stripclubs have gone way down hill over the past few years. I've seen more shit slide that ever in some of the most upscale clubs recently. I want the clubs cleaned out and the dirty ones - customers and girls done away with. But I do think they are going a little too far.

    (c) While in the view of any patron, touch any other person who is nude or seminude;

    Ha! there goes your double girl dance

    (a) Appear in the view of any patron unless the employee is at least six feet from all patrons and on a stage at least two feet above the floor;

    Lets see...I'm about six feet, so say I just lay myself out on the floor then stnd up to get an idea as to how FAAAAAR I should be from my custie......dats pretty damn far

    Wow. I mean, I don't likebeing touched, but this is rediculous!
    Its either all or nothing I guess. That Ohio fer ya!

    in a way it is a good thing that they protest about the clubs as it shows that 'opening a strip club is not easy' thus = less people opening them = more customers distributed through minimal clubs = more earning potential!

    They are most likely doing that so they can show they have the power over the industry!

    Imagine if groups like this didn't do this! There would be clubs on every corner (and in some cases like melbourne - Aust there are)

    No, that is totally NOT what the CCV is trying to do. CCV and "a good thing" should never go into the same sentence. They protest stripclubs saying that it encourages prostitution and breaks up families. Oh, and they also spend millions of dollars arguing that there should be no gambling boats on the Ohio river because that will cause crime, and yet again a break up of the family.

    Agree totally, the CCV and "a good thing" is an oxymoron. Whatever happened to the concept of you don't like stripclubs-DON"T GO ? The CCV is also responsible for getting porno movies prosecusted in hotel rooms in certain counties in Ohio. This group and it's leader Phil Burress clearly are nothing but theocrat nazis and their fascist agenda is better suited for the moral taliban. Sad that this group yields some political power in Ohio.

    They're f-king crazy, but it might just pass in ohio. Luckily the state has shifted a bit democratic, as far as the last election, but as far as a moral issue goes, we are still a bunch of bible thumpers in between the major cities.

    Luckily even though they've set the law so that municipalities can set their own rules, no one in Akron cares. Honestly I think our club owner has paid off the cops to the point that we could continue doing what we want even if this law passed and still get away with it. Money talks.

    I guess Ohio hates money. Yeah, not to go astray, but the whole gambeling thing should have been a dead give away. Now that almost every state that boarders ohio has gambeling, the ppl take their money to other economies. Shit. Well yall, we ain't the home of the poorest big city in america fur nuthin!

    ^^^ if this passes, you can expect border clubs in PA, Indiana etc. to be doing gangbuster business thanks to Ohio customers !

    I also caught the provision that only clubs that have been granted liquor licenses can stay open past midnight !

    Most importantly, if you check the fine print, you'll find there is a misdemeanor penalty associated with breaking this new law, and that breaking this new law is classified as a 'sex crime'. Therefore if this law passes, Ohio dancers doing air dances 1 foot away from the customer will be exposing themselves to the same legal penalties and black mark on their permanent record as other dancers giving HJ's, BJ's and FS. If similar attempts by other cities is any example, if this new law passes it will actually serve as an incentive for Ohio clubs to become dirtier instead of cleaner, because as soon as a few girls figure out that they have nothing additional to lose and a whole lot of earnings to gain by offering HJ's BJ's etc. it will be impossible for 'clean' girls to sell 6 foot legal air dances.

    Ironically, if/when the club is busted, the 'dirty' girls actually stand a better chance of beating the rap than the clean dancers who are 'bending' the distance rule. The reason of course is that the 'dirty' girls have been earning enough money that they can retain their own high powered attorneys, whereas the 'clean' girls who have been 'bending' the distance rule will probably have to settle for free legal representation by a PD or the club's attorney cutting a plea bargain deal (in exchange for no charges being filed against his real client the clubowner).

    I find it hard to believe that a girl willing to do HJ and BJ would have the presence of mind to save her money for a lawyer. I guess that's my experience anyway. I have yet to meet more than 3 or 4 girls at my club who aren't broke at the end of the month when they pay rent.

    Anyway, my suspicion is that this bill will never end up affecting me directly as I should be done with dancing within 6 months, but I would still be really upset about it. For one, I want to be able to buy a lapdance for myself or my boyfriend without putting some girl in legal jeopardy and two, if the point of the bill is to "save families and prevent crime" then they should put the money into our failing school system and law enforcement.

    It's just like Ohioans and Americans in general to get all worked up over having morals while their children receive a substandard education and they can't find a job cause of the economy. I hope not having a strip club in your neighborhood makes you feel better when you have to move to the ghetto cause you lost your job. Somehow I don't think you'd care.
