Default Always sore after work! Why? and how to end it?

Ok, I've been dancing for 10 months on a regular basis. When I'm at work, I work and don't slack off. Even on the few nights that I do slack off when I wake up the next morning I sore as f$ck! My whole body is sore, every freaking muscle! Like I worked out like a crazy woman! I don't drink at work and if I do, it's a maximum of 2 drinks here and there. I also eat before and during work, something that's healthy like a sandwich and I drink plenty of liquids, and I also try to remember to stretch before and after work and I'm still very very sore the next day. My neck, my upper back, my arms, my legs, my butt and my stomach muscles. Why am I still sore? Shouldn't I be in good dancer shape by now? I could understand being sore if I hadn't danced in a long time or if I only danced here and there but I dance 3-4 days per week every week and still sore! Why? What can I do so I won't wake up so sore? I'm tired of it!!!! If this is what all you dancers were talking about, having a creeky body like an old woman then damn, there's got to be something that can be done about this! Thanks!

I like to take a hot bath with some muscle soak or Lush products when I get home. More than anything it helps me get sleepy, but it helps my muscles feel better.

8 years of dancing and the soreness never went away for me. A nice warm bath with epson salts would help before bed, maybe a massage if bf was up. Nothing ever got rid of the soreness entirely. What do you expect when we walk around in 6+inch shoes!

I guess I assumed my body would eventually adapt to it and get used to it. That's discouraging to hear you say after 8 yrs and it still didn't go away. I can say as the day goes on it eases up a bit but when I first wake up in the morning I can barely move on some days.

Some of that soreness could be pure aches and pain. Think about it: the stripper heals torque the entire lower body, from the toes/heels to the hips. Also, think about the positions you are in, and what that is doing to your knees, etc.

Another area to watch is the neck and shoulders. I was constantly jacking my neck doing flips and such. Be very very careful or avoid these kind of tricks.

One thing that really helped me was to practice my posture, and watch how I moved my weight against things. Never let your knees extend past your toes, it will fuck you up, I promise. It took some practice.

Also, aspercreme/bengay/arnica rubs are good too.

I've never had issues with soreness & it might be genetic (tough genes) or it could be from diet, I eat a lot of fatty foods & work out so everything is lubricated & limber.

Maybe your diet doesn't include enough muscle-repairing substances? Like whey protein or B vitamins. You should actually go on the forum of ....You'll find better answers there.

Do you go to the gym? I had constant soreness and aches in my muscles and joints until I started going to the gym and doing yoga. I do cardio and weights at the gym (lots of leg presses! and hip adduction and abduction), and lots of stretching. I stretch whenever I can, especially after I get off my shift.

Having balanced and strong muscles reduces the strain on your joints. If you rely just on dancing to get you in shape, some muscles will remain overused and others will atrophy - this is what causes injury. It pulls on your joints. Deep stretching results in a decrease in muscle strength for about one hour, so you don't really want to do deep stretches before you work; you want to warm up instead: jog in place, light stretching, jumping jacks, that sort of thing. Deep stretching after work is the best thing to help you increase and maintain your flexibility. (I learned all this stuff from a sports doctor at my school.)

I find that I'm never sore after work now unless I work an idiotically long shift or am trying to learn a new trick. Also do you do lots of pole tricks or acrobatic floor work? That could be why you're sore too, because it is a lot like working out, if you're always doing more and more and more.

I'm always sore the next day, too. It's just from using muscles (alot) that aren't used very often, I think. I mean, sure... you use them a lot for DANCING but not so much for other parts of your life.

It usually goes away by the end of the day for me.

I used to be sore everyday, untill I started to work out regularly.. I still have days I am, but no where like I use too, and now after I work out the day I am sore, I stretch it out of me. For me simply working out, and eating better has made a big difference

I work out regularly and I still get sore after a night of work! I really don't know what to say, other than we are using all of our muscles while we work. I think the hot bath advice was right on! Oooh and a massage would be perfect to fall asleep to!
