Default What gym classes should i take?

I just joined a new gym and its sooo nice, the spa was the part that won me over lol
Anyway I get all of my classes free and i was just wonderin what ones are worth checkin out. I'm wantin to lost weight, tone up arms, thighs hips , bum and stomach.
I not used to gym jargon so all i want is something thats gonna work those areas. i love cardio and to sweat when i work out. i find weights boring. so anything lively that will get me a figure like lara croft will make me happy lol (hey i can dream)

    I'll list what they do and give some of their description;

    Yoga

Bodypump (non impact resistance training programme that uses barbells and adjustable weights and high repetition to tone and condition your body. The fastes way to change your body shape)

Circuits (multi stationed class for an all over workout using all basic elements if fitness including strength, stamina and flexibility)

    Step

Body combat (adrenaline pumping routine based around shadow kicks and punches.

    Pilates

    Iron abs

body balance ( supports a triangle of tai chi, pilates and yoga

    tai chi

    swiss ball

    Bums tums and thighs

    spinning

Bums tums and thighs is going to be alot of cardio and such. Curcuit training is also a sweating class.

but pilaties and yoga, while they aren't so much heart pounding and sweaty, will give you great results as well.

I would recommend doing circuits if you want a more intense "sweating" work out. But in addition do a pilates or yoga class. Instead of bulk muscle it will help you have long, lean muscles.

oh and i did a spinning class once, omg! i could barely walk afterwards and was sweating like crazy, some of those people are hardcore about it.
You could try it but I didn't really like it. I like moving around more instead of just sitting in one place.

I would do pilates - will make you toned from your ass up to your waist.

    Hey Glamgirl,

would definitely keep you company if I live closer! I used to work in a Gym for 5 years and tried out many classes...and discover I have no co-ordination at all in some of the dancy ones!

Anyway, as you probably aware that I'm trying to lose some weight and tone up before my auditions, well..good news is because of the training and eating that I've done, I've lost 7kgs and down to my last 3kgs to go!! Since I hate excersing and find it boring, I've to stick with classes which force me to do it. My routine is 3 x Spinning classes and 2 x body pump classes in between, like alternate it. I know..I know..spinning sounds boring and tough but it actually very motivating thru out and DOES work! Cardio checked and Body pump will tone up all parts as well, so weights checked too!

The first few classes, I find are the hardest, but after that it's enjoyable and Yes your lovely spa will work a treat afterwards!

    Have fun!
    xxx

I would do pilates personally, and my second choice would be yoga.

All of them sound fine to try! How about you try them all out over the course of a couple weeks and see which one gives you the better workout. Yoga, body pump, circuit, and body compat would probably be at the top of my list, but I'd be alot more inclined to try them all at least once or twice to get a real feel for them.

Pump and balance consecutively if possible (its amazing to do the balance after a weights workout)

Body Jam is awesome too, Ive used moves from there at work, and its great for hearing different music to certain moves.

I have a thing for old-school step- it's just so fun! The choreography of step class I SWEAR helped me learn to dance better on stage.

I say that you should mix them all up! Spinning a couple of days, the Body Combat a couple of days, Spinning, etc.

The ones that should be constant is Pilates and Yoga. Not only do the really work the muscles, but the help elongate and stretch out all of those kinks from your other classes.

Mixing all of the classes out will keep your body guessing and you'll avoid any plateaus much easier.
