    false eyelashes

I feel like such a dumbass, but can someone please explain to me the number system associated with false eyelashes?? I LOVE to wear them (after many mishaps, I can finally get them on properly!!), but everytime I go to buy them, I'm dumbfounded by the numbers, #80, #110...etc etc etc... I see a visible difference in them, but what is it exactly? Do they get thicker as the number increases? Or longer? Or are they spaced differently or something? I can't seem to put it together in my head. Now, this isn't really that important, I'm able to find what I like just by seeing the lashes, I'm just curious about the numbers. Thanks for all the help ladies!!

I always thought that a certain number just corresponded to a certain style. I suppose they get longer/more dramatic as the numbers go up. Hm...

You would think there is some rhyme or reason, but I have not found it myself.

Your best bet would be to find a style that is flattering to you and stick to it. I actually have two different styles, one for work and one for going out or other non-work related functions.

Also, consider stocking up on your fave lashes. Sally Beauty usually has a good variety, plus you can get a Sally Card for $5/year that saves you 30%!!

ooh, I didn't know that about Sally's. Cool tip. What are your favorite styles Glamazon? Or anyone? I jump around a bit, but I'd love to find a great one (and cheap) that I could just stock up on.

I'm a 101(demi) at Sally's, and if I'm feeling cheeky, I'm a 53. I don't think the length increses with the number though, cuz my 53's are way more strippery than the 101's. Who knows!

So do you girls wear your falsies to work everytime you work? I've only worn false eyelashes once in a photoshoot. They were from MAC and they were feather-lite in weight.

I love to wear falsies every other day, especially when I work. They give your eyes a sexy, dramatic look. I have medium length lashes so when I put them on, them look super thick and long. My favorites are 122 and 117 by Ardell.

I am half asian so I've got these tiny little bitty lashes naturally. I LOVE wearing the fake ones. My faves are from MAC, but I generally hit the drugstore for cheapies. Glamazon, thanks for sharing about Sally's I had no idea.

.. for example is where I've gotten some lashes, the numbers don't seem to correspond to a size system or anything .. but I like the ones that are shorter on the inside of your eye, and get longer on the outside.

I wear falsies everytime I work. Sometimes in the daytime too. If you can find them, Red Cherry #100 are the perfect stripper lashes. From Sally, I like the Giselle and Tyra ones and the sparkly ones. #7's from MAC are great daytime lashes.

I think every company has their own system for numbering, so not much help there.

Just wanted to add, NYC cosmetics makes some great ones that are super cheap, $1.79. They have a more natural one and a glam one, I call them baby doll lashes. They are so thick, not super long, but long enough. They seriously look exactly like the lashes you would find on a baby doll.

I love, love, LOVE the Ardel 117 for work (pictured in my avatar) and the Ardel Demi Wispies/Wispies for non work outings and functions.

    ROFLMAO !!!

Been through it. With a few tiny drops of eyelah glue I decided what better time to try them out than at a Jacuzzi party (I thought it'd be okay, since I wasn't going to wet my face).

    Pictures left and right, ALL NIGHT LONG ! We had a great time drinking etc. - It was a great time;

    Until I got home .

My left eye was good, but the right lash had somehow stuck itself onto MY EYELID (DO NOT DRUNK HUG GUYS when wearing false lashes - they know nothing about makeup and will totally smoosh your face) !!! Apparently, the steam unglued my right lash.

My eye looks wonky in all those darn pics (grrrr).

PrettyCurlieQ (& others): Don't let this happen to you!

A THICK THICK line of glue!!!

    THICK I SAY !!!

I like the 53, but once I started using the Ardel 117, I was hooked. The 53 are a little too...understated for me now.

Not only everytime I work, but darn near everytime I wear make-up! I just don't feel "complete" without them.

Really?? So can they damage your real lashes? My natural lashes are very long and thick (the reach the arch of my eyebrow) and I'd had to have them break off.

They'll only be damaging by pulling out your natural lashes when you remove them. So just be gentle taking them off.

I'll check out those Glamazon. I've had good luck with the Ardell 110s, but they aren't quite what I want. I like MACs, I think the 10s, but those are spensive.

You know, my natural lashes have always been kind of pathetic, so it would be hard to tell you. If you already have natural long and thick lashes, you may want to just go without the falsies!

To remove gently, you can use warm water to soften the glue, then gently pull the lashes and remaining glue off.

The Ardel 110s are very short. What kind of look are you going for? I may be able to recommend some...also, seriously, go check out Sally Beauty. They have a huge selection of lashes in stock!

I am an Andrea 26. I wear them every time I work. I usually mess them up and can't wear them again. When I do reuse my lashes I always make a lot at work. It is like having a lucky shirt or something...

I don't wear super heavy makeup, cause I'm lazy, so I mostly just like a little extra thickening of my lashes. I have pretty decent natural lashes already - they are fairly thick and curly, but you are right, I would like something a little longer. I'm going to try the ones you said you use.
