Default I pulled my calf muscle..

and it hurts like a Biotch!!! When I was bored-ly (is that a word lol) walking around my stage last night I felt a slight, dull pull in my calf. I figured that I could walk it off but I was wrong. It just got worse and worse as the night went on. I didn't even bother asking people for dances towards the end of the night it hurt so bad. I put some ice on it when I got home but it still hurts.

I want to go into work tonight, and the rest of this weekend: Is that out of the question now? I'm gonna make an attempt to walk to Family Dollar and get some supplies for my leg. I'll await you girls responses before I run off to buy anything useless.

Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or naproxen. Keep up the icing. An ACE wrap may or may not help. Mainly rest. Hope it feels better soon.

I did that once before, I didn`t buy anything to help it but if I remember correctly it gradually went away in about 4-5 days. I did notice that it hurt much worse in the mornings and would feel slightly better as I moved around during the day. I was not a dancer when I did it so I`m not sure how it would feel in heels. Hope you feel better soon.

Could i buy like one of those Icy/Hot things? Yea, I'm just gonna keep icing it and stretching it up.

Cinnamon- I feel for you. Nothing worse. Used to happen to me a lot when I was doing three martial arts classes a day. Rest and anti-infammatories ( Orutis KT=ketoprofen works the best ). Prevention- stretch and keep up your potassium. Bananas and V-8 are good sources.

Icy-Hot? You mean one of those pads that can be chilled? That should work great.

Lightbulb Re: I pulled my calf muscle..

So sorry you're feelin sick ma .

This has happened to me a few times before (for tryina invent crazy moves, that's what I got : ; LoL).

    1. Alternating heat and cold pads
    2. Keep leg elevated with pillows for as long as possible
    3. Soak or wet towel your calf with epsom salt bath to help with the swelling
    4. A few minutes of deep BUT GENTLE tissue stimulation with Ben Gay / Tiger balm (Pure heat !!!) / muscle rub (whatever). This aids in circulation and keeps the muscle from going "stiff" since you aren't moving it all that much, but go easy or you can do more damage.

Note - Soaking before and after the massage will help your muscle to be "warmed up" and therefore more receptive to the massage (less soreness for you).

    5. To accelerate recovery, drink plenty of water and have protein, as protein builds muscle.

I am PM'ing you with something else...

I hope you feel better soon
