    Smiley Learning to Drive

Yep! I'm finally doing it. LA is just one of those towns where you need your own wheels. I've had 2 driving lessons so far, and I've only knocked off one rearview mirror Watch out...another LA driver is about to hit the road. I am having fun though, and I can't wait for the independence that owning a car will bring me.

Go you! Best of luck, and no more claiming rearview mirrors!

You are doing better than me! I'm actually going to try to plan to get my manual (and thus open as I have an automatic) driving license when I am in Darwin. Why? There are no f-ing hills in Darwin! NOT ONE! That makes me very happy as I detest hill starts and the Gold Coast has plenty of places to do them..........and I suck at them.

I'll also be needing a few lessons prior to the actual driving test to "clean up" my driving so it is pass-able instead of what it is at the moment

Are you going automatic or manual? Either or I couldn't imagine trying to learn to drive out in LA. Be glad it was just a mirror and not a whole bumper. lol jk Good luck out there....I think most other people in LA need to re-learn how to drive.

I'll be out there tomorrow getting my passport at 9am in downtown LA. Beware my crazy ass driving up the 405. If anyone wants lunch with me afterwards PM me or wvtr.

You have to have a manual license do drive a manual?

Not in CA. Just a drivers license to drive automatic and/or manual. As long as you know how to drive either or they don't care.

Here in Australia you can't drive manual unless you have an open license. To get an open license you just have to go for your driving test in a manual car. Otherwise, if you took the easy way like I did all those many years ago when I first got my license and did the test in an automatic you can only drive auto UNTIL you re-take the test again in a manual (and thus making the license "open").

You're from Australia right, how are you getting a driver's license if you are not an American citizen? Anyways, good luck I hear driving in LA is horrendous.
